Map of Serengeti National Park
The map of Serengeti National Park encompasses the vast open plains of the park as well as the adjacent Serengeti ecosystem within the broader Serengeti region. The park is flanked by national wildlife regions on all sides: the Kenya Maasai Mara Game Reserve to the north, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area to the south, the Loliondo Game Controlled Area to the east, and the Masai Game Reserve to the west.
The Map of Serengeti defines the wildebeest migration zones across the entirety of the broader Serengeti National Park. The park is organized into five regions, which are:
Central Region
The core sector, known as the Seronera district, is the most popular and recognized among guests. It possesses an airfield that exclusively accommodates domestic aircraft. The region features a tiny river that draws a significant amount of animals, particularly during the dry season. The Seneroa region offers a greater number of hotels, predominantly luxury options, along with an information center for guests, a fuel station, the Tanzania Wildlife Authority headquarters, and a bus terminal for public transportation directly to Arusha from the park.
Eastern Serengeti
The eastern side of the Serengeti encompasses the Grumeti River, where minimal migration occurs following the extensive Masai Mara wildebeest migration from October to November, traversing Lobo and Western Loliondo beneath the imposing Gol Mountains at the periphery of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
Northern Serengeti
Renowned for the yearly wildebeest migration that transpires from June to October across the Mara River, as the wildebeests traverse from Serengeti National Park to the famed Masai Mara in Kenya.
Southern Serengeti
This location is next to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and experiences significant activity during the calving season in February and March.
Western Serengeti
This area is renowned for primate species such as the patas monkey, black and white colobus, baboons, and others. Additionally, additional species like as lions, cheetahs, and numerous others are readily observable in this region.
