Notice of Website Consolidation

The Rehabilitation Research Development and Translation (RRDT) website will soon merge with the VA Office of Research and Development (ORD) website (www.research.va.gov) to better provide a more centralized and convenient experience for Veterans, researchers, and the public. Combining these resources into one location will simplify navigation and improve access to information and services.

All current content will remain available on www.research.va.gov after the transition. We appreciate your understanding and encourage you to contact us with any questions. Thank you for your continued support.

RRDT is part of ISRM, the organizational unit for review and management of funded medical research in VA Office of Research and Development. ISRM is in the process of transitioning from services to broad portfolios, which will improve how ORD's Priority Research Areas proactively interact with relevant clinical and operational partners, bringing them closer together with researchers to better meet Veterans’ needs.

RRDT Mission:

The mission of the Rehabilitation Research Development and Translation Broad Portfolio (RRDT) is to advance scientific knowledge and foster innovations to maximize Veterans’ functional independence, quality of life and participation in their lives and community. RR&D also invests in building rehabilitation research capacity and developing the next generation of VA rehabilitation researchers.

RRDT integrates clinical, preclinical, and applied rehabilitation research to enable translation into clinical practice to improve the health and wellbeing of Veterans and the nation. To meet the RRDT mission, rehabilitation research may restore, replace, or return Veterans’ function to improve their quality of life.

Proposals submitted to the Rehabilitation Research Development and Translation Broad Portfolio (RRDT) may include clinical, preclinical or applied rehabilitation research to enable translation into clinical practice to maximize Veterans’ functional independence, quality of life and participation in their lives and community. Proposals are reviewed by Subcommittees called Scientific Review Groups (SRGs). Read a description of the research portfolio associated with each SRG and the types of applications they review

The NIH RePORTER tool (http://projectreporter.nih.gov/reporter.cfm) can be used to search for most research projects funded by RRDT. Any RRDT funded project that has been submitted and reviewed through NIH's Electronic Research Administration (eRA) can be found in NIH RePORTER. However, funded projects that were reviewed prior to the eRA transition or certain special funding mechanisms that are not processed using eRA will not appear in the query results. Learn more about using the NIH RePORTER tool for RR&D funded studies.
