THIS IS A KNITTING PATTERN NOT A FINISHED SWEATER! This is a very easy pattern which you will be able to knit in your pjs, watching netflix with chocs and a bottle of red (If that's your thing)! The Tilly Turtle Sweater is knitted from the waist band up. We knit some 1x1 ribbing, some stocking stitch in the round and then separate the front and back panels. We work both front and back panels in flat stocking stitch, do some neckline shaping and some 3 needle bind off. We then pick up stitches around the arm holes, knit the baggy sleeves and choose an option for our sleeve cuffs! :) For me, the most exciting part to knit is the neckline, which you can knit short, long or LONGER You can knit this baby up with stash yarn or with a strand of chunky yarn- be as EXTRA as you'd like! Video Tutorial links can be found as you work up the pattern. :) The Tilly Turtle Sweater has been designed to have between 5-13cm/2-4 inches of positive ease, meaning that it will be roomy. Please size up or down if you wish for a looser or more snug fit. The bust size of the actual sweater goes from 80cm/ 31 inches- 160cm/ 63 inches The length is totally customisable! Tension: In stocking stitch, with 7mm needles, working flat (one row knit, one row purl). 10 stitches = 9.5cm/ 3.7 inches (width) 10 rows = 7cm/ 2.75 inches (length) Materials: Size 7mm circular needles (or whichever size needle gets you the correct gauge) with an 80cm cord or longer and a shorter cord for the neckline ribbing. I used an 80cm cord for the entire sweater and used the magic loop technique for the neckline and sleeves! Please use whatever size needles needed to get correct gauge. Size 6mm circular needles for the ribbing 6mm double pointed needles in case you want to use this method for the sleeve cuffs or the neckline ribbing BOR stitch marker Stitch holder or scrap yarn to hold stitches Darning needle to seam panels and for weaving in ends A good glass of wine! **Yarns Chunky Yarn which recommends using a 6-7mm needle. Please use 1 strand for this yarn! I am all for stash busting and making something beautiful out of what you already have in your yarn stash! Yarn amounts Because this pattern is a stash buster and different types of yarn can be heavier than others (e.g. cotton is heavier than merino) it is quite tricky to get an approximate yarn amount for this pattern. Please use the measurements below as a guide. If using Double Knitting (DK) weight yarn with three strands held together you will need between 550 and 1300 grams. If using Aran/Worsted weight yarn with two strands held together you will need between 600 and 1350 grams. If using Chunky weight yarn you will need between 700 and 1500 grams.
