This vase is a part of the official ware made for the imperial court of the Southern Song dynasty in Hangzhou. Its octagonal profile begins at the foot, rises through the body, and continues up its long tapering neck, which is divided into three segments. The rim is circular and flattened. Overall height is 8.5”. The clay is stoneware, and the glaze is an opaque, satiny, blue-green with relatively dense crazing.
