Samuel Yellin Ironworker
Samuel Yellin produced these monumental light fixtures for the Packard Building in downtown Philadelphia. The firm Ritter and Shay designed this structure which was completed in 1924. The material is Wrought Iron which is heated and forged by hand and machine to create these intricate shapes. Interestingly, wrought iron, due in part to its higher carbon content, is vastly superior to steel in corrosion resistance. #historicbuilding #samuelyellin #philadelphia #traditionalbuilding #wroughtiron
