Cupid is stringing his bow once more as Valentine’s Day creeps nearer. Did that startle you? Do you have a partner who is impossible to buy for?
Instead of buying something for the sake of doing so this February 14, why not organise a little weekend away for you and your significant other?
Make memories, eat good food and ignore all responsibilities as you spend quality time together for a change.
Here are some staycation spots across Scotland that would make for the perfect romantic getaway.
Signet Weekend at Glenmorangie House
One for the whisky lovers. From February 14 to 16, Glenmorangie House is hosting an exclusive weekend celebrating the delicious and decadent Glenmorangie Signet.
Located near the distillery in Tain, the boutique hotel was recently awarded a Michelin Key.
Under the expert guidance of drinks writers Joel Harrison and Neil Ridley, guests will enjoy a meticulously crafted itinerary including a private tour and tasting at the distillery during the chocolate-malt production week, a mixology masterclass, a coastal walk to the ancient Cadboll Stone and a fireside Signet Reserve tasting in the gardens.
It’s a splurge at £1,000 for two, but if you’re looking for something special it would certainly deliver.

Celentano’s, Glasgow
If you thought Celentano’s was just a restaurant, you obviously haven’t heard about their new rooms.
Situated in Glasgow’s historic Cathedral House with Gothic architecture and views over the Necropolis, the eight bedrooms with soft, plush and pastel interiors are perfect for a romantic night away.
The Michelin-Bib Gourmand restaurant, with its Italian-inspired menu by chef-owner Dean Parker, is designed for sharing.
For Valentine’s weekend, co-owner Anna Parker and her bar team will be designing a romantic cocktail special made using herbs grown in the restaurant’s garden.

Edinbane Lodge, Skye
It is getting trickier to find a month of the year when Skye isn’t busy, but February is usually pretty safe.
The weather might be chilly and the wind fierce, but it’s all part of the island atmosphere.
Edinbane Lodge is opening its doors this Valentine’s weekend for guests to indulge in its signature A Taste of Skye menu. It features a thoughtfully crafted selection of dishes by chef-patron Calum Montgomery celebrating the island’s finest seasonal produce.

Escape with your significant other to a little wooden cabin in the Abernethy Caledonian Pine Forest.
While there are plenty of outdoor activities on offer nearby, including skiing, you don’t have to feel guilty if you’d rather stay in and enjoy the cabin itself. It is perfectly designed for switching off, with a large projector screen to watch a romantic movie in front of a roaring fire.
You can even stargaze from your super-king-size bed.

The Shoregate embodies Crail’s vibrant community and traditional charm. Once the old smokehouse for the original 18th-Century merchant house, it was sympathetically restored in 2022.
Original Victorian pine panelling, reclaimed pews from a deconsecrated chapel near New Lanark, upholstered fabric woven in Ross-shire and a roaring open fire give way to stunning scenic views down the hill to the sea.
Luxurious guest bedrooms feature art from Scottish National Collections and local artists and the food showcases the East Neuk’s much-loved produce.
