Ranked: Top Ten Biggest Clubs in England

We’ve ranked the ten best defenders in Premier League history, the best midfielders in Premier League history and most recently, the best strikers in Premier League history, but now it is time to find out who are the biggest clubs in English football history?

What makes a big club? Well, many things can be looked at, for instance, how many trophies have been won by the respective club, time spent at the top of English football, how iconic the stadium is, the fanbase, financial importance and global notoriety.

With that being said, here are the ten biggest clubs in England, ranked.

Ranked: Top Ten Biggest Clubs in England

10. Nottingham Forest

11 Major Honours

League Titles (1978), European Cup (2 times), FA Cup (2 times), League Cup (4 times), Uefa Super Cup (1980), Community Shield (1978)

During the Brian Clough era starting in 1975, Nottingham Forest saw a massive overhaul of success. From 1977 to 1990 the club won a single league title, four League cups and most impressively, two European Cups during that timeframe.

With context, those achievements sound even better as the club won all those trophies within three years of getting promoted from the Second Division. Fairytale stuff to say the least.

That being said, the past few decades for the club has seen them relegated twice to the Championship, both in 1997 and in 1999, where they have stayed ever since.

9. Aston Villa

22 Major Honours

League Titles (7 times), FA Cup (7 times), League Cup (5 times), European Cup (1982), Uefa Super Cup (1982), Community Shield (1981)

The most successful club in the Midlands, with more European Cups,  than Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham combined, Aston Villa were once a behemoth in English football, with seven league titles, seven FA Cups and five League Cups, Villa are often forgotten by many modern-day football fans as being a ”big club”.

Having experienced six relegations during their history, their last being the 2015/2016 Premier League season, finishing 20th, they were soon back up playing top-flight football and are now a part of the core clubs to represent English football.

8. Leeds United

9 Major Honours

League Titles (3 times), FA Cup (1972), League Cup (1968), Inter-Cities Fairs Cup Winner (2 times), Community Shield (2 times)

Talking about a club like Leeds can go either one of two ways, you call them a ”small club” because of their long absence from the Premier League or to go with the norm and refer to them as a ”huge club” in the history of English football, the latter would be the obvious choice for many.

While they spent over 16-years out of the top flight, Leeds has recently made a resurgence, currently in their second season in the Premier League, where they rightfully belong.

A one-club city, Leeds United have won a decent amount of league and domestic cups while making it to the semi-finals of the Champions League in 2001, an iconic club in England, Leeds will forever be listed as a top tier club.

7. Everton

24 Major Honours

League Titles (9 times), FA Cup (5 times), Cup Winners Cup (1985), Community Shield (9 times)

In terms of English titles, Everton is only beaten out by three clubs (Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal), and more than Chelsea, Manchester City and Tottenham, the Merseyside club are very much a massive club in English football.

Founded before Liverpool, Everton were once a much bigger and more well-renowned club than their rivals for quite some time, making 13 FA Cup final appearances and winning five since they were founded all the back in 1878.

Their trophy cabinet cannot be doubted, with numerous FA Cups and league titles to their name while boasting a tremendous fanbase and being only one of six clubs to never be relegated during the Premier League era, Everton are simply massive.

6. Tottenham Hotspurs

24 Major Honours

League Titles (2 times), FA Cup (8 times), League Cup (4 times), Uefa Cups (2 times), Cup Winners Cup (1963), Community Shield (7 times)

It is hard not to malign Spurs as a mere nearly club, always in the shadow of London rivals Chelsea and especially Arsenal, Tottenham may not be successful, but they are consistent in terms of cementing their place in the higher echelon of English football.

Always in and around the top 6, Spurs were the first London club to win a league and cup double, but that was all the way back in 1961.

Known for their philosophy of attacking and free-flowing football, they were so close to capturing their first Premier League title under Mauricio Pochetinno and even managed to make their first Champions League final in 2019, losing to Liverpool.

They do, however, have the best stadium in England. Make of that what you will.

Ranked: Top Ten Biggest Clubs in England

5. Manchester City

28 Major Honours

League Titles (7 times), FA Cup (6 times), League Cup (8 times), Cup Winners Cup (1970), Community Shield (6 times)

Like Chelsea, Manchester City became a footballing powerhouse with outside foreign investment. Bought in 2008 by a Saudi Arabian group led by Sheikh Mansour, City have become the best team in England over the past decade with shrewd signings and beautiful football to match.

Winning five league titles during that timeframe, with the majority of them being record-breaking seasons and being the first club to reach 100 points in the Premier League, a couple of FA Cups and a plethora of League Cups, it is hard to argue that City is not a massive club in today’s footballing landscape, despite much ridicule.

4. Arsenal

47 Major Honours

League Titles (13 times), FA Cup (14 times), League Cup (2 times), Cup Winners Cup (1994), Inter-Cities Fairs Cup Winner (1970), Community Shield (4 times)

London’s most decorative club based on trophy overhaul since the club’s inception in 1886, Arsenal have the most FA Cup titles with a record of 14 and with the third most league titles in English football with 13, their last being in 2003/04.

During the 1930s, they won five league titles in eight years and four FA Cups, making them at the time, certainly the biggest club in London and perhaps the biggest club in England.

They’ve also been the only side in Premier League history to go a whole season unbeaten, winning the league title in the process. Since then, they have fallen off a cliff, steadily moving down the league table, and without a league title in 17 years. With no European success to their name, they sit fourth.

3. Chelsea

31 Major Honours

League Titles (6 times), European Cup (2 times), FA Cup (8 times), League Cup (5 times), Europa League (2 times), Cup Winners Cup (2 times), Uefa Super Cup (2 times), Community Shield (4 times)

Founded in 1905, Chelsea has always been deemed a good footballing club prior to foreign investment in 2003, winning six trophies in seven years before Roman Abramovich’s purchase, it is very hard to call them a small club.

Chelsea has become an English and European powerhouse over the last 20 years. Winning a slew of league titles, FA Cups and League Cups and are the first London club to win the European Cup.

With their recent success in Europe once again, the tide has turned in London between themselves and Arsenal for the biggest team in the capital. Depending on one’s criteria, either club can top the other but with the massive gap in European honours, Chelsea edge it.

2. Liverpool

63 Major Honours

League Titles (19 times), European Cup (6 times), FA Cup (7 times), League Cup (8 times), FIFA Club World Cup (2019), Europa League (3 times), UEFA Super Cup (4 times), Community Shield (15 times)

When you think of consistent success over the past three to four decades, Liverpool will almost certainly come to mind.

The fact that Liverpool only recently won their first league title in over 30 years a year and a half ago and are only one league title behind rivals Manchester United shows how dominant and successful they were during that time.

Holding the title for most European trophies with 14 and with a record of 6 European Cups along with numerous domestic honours, Liverpool is truly a class above the majority of every English club bar one.

Known for their iconic fans, the historically relevant Anfield and club legends, Liverpool is a truly iconic club.

1. Manchester United

66 Major Honours

League Titles (20 times), European Cup (3 times), FA Cup (12 times), League Cup (5 times), FIFA Club World Cup (2008),  Europa League (2017), Intercontinental Cup (1999), Cup Winners Cup (1991), Uefa Super Cup (1991), Community Shield (21 times)

It’s hard to argue that when it comes to the biggest and most well-known club in England and perhaps, the world, Manchester United take the crown and by a fair distance.

United have won the most league titles, second-most for FA Cup triumphs and a plethora of European success, including three historic European Cup victories, with their last being in 2008 in Moscow. With a larger than life fanbase all over the world, United top the list with relative ease.

Besides England, United are on par with the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona, with massive success, numerous legends, a historic stadium, the money and the profile to match, United will be hoping they can get back to the level of success under Sir Alex Ferguson that made them the club they are today.

Henry, Adams, Bergkamp: The Greatest ever Arsenal All-Time XI: Along with Manchester United and Liverpool, London giants Arsenal are seen as one of the founding giants in English football. Founded in 1886, Arsenal has the third biggest trophy hauls in English football history with 47 honours to their name. Including 13 League titles and 14 FA Cups

With a lucrative history, comes an abundance of great players throughout their history. Arsenal has found themselves in a rut for close to two decades, with no League titles and no European success.

However, they still possess a whole host of legends in their alumni. From the likes of Ian Wright, David Roadcastle and Charlie George, Arsenal has seen some of the most well-known players in English football history.

With that in mind, here is a look at Arsenal All-Time XI:

Henry, Adams, Bergkamp: The Greatest ever Arsenal All-Time XI

David Seaman

Once considered the best goalkeeper to ever grace English football, Seaman was truly a magnificent player in his day. Spending over 13 years at Arsenal from 1990 to 2003, Seaman won almost everything there is to win with the London club.

He won numerous trophies under five different managers. From George Graham, Stewart Houston (twice) Bruce Rioch, Pat Rice and most notably Arsene Wenger. The English international won two Premier League titles and the First Division title in 1991, along with four FA Cup’s, a League Cup and a single European Cup Winner’s Cup in 1994.

Known for his cat-like reflexes, Seaman earned praise for his performances throughout the 1990s. A tall keeper with an imposing frame between the sticks, he was strong in the air, known for his bravery when going up for corners and exceptional agility. His save against Sheffield United in the 2003 FA Cup semi-final is still regarded as one the greatest saves ever made.

During his 13 years in North London, he made 512 appearances, with a total of 215 clean sheets to his name.

Ashley Cole

He will go down as the greatest left-back in Premier League history, Ashley Cole was a legendary left-back for Arsenal under Arsene Wenger before controversially signing for London rivals Chelsea in 2006.

An Arsenal fan as a child, Cole made his professional debut for the club at the age of 18 in the fourth round of the League Cup in 1999.

Spending 7 years at Arsenal, Cole was part of some of the best Arsenal sides of the past century. Winning the double in 2001/02 before winning the league title as an invincible with the Gunners in 2003/04.

He made the move from North to West London in 2006, in a controversial move that saw him spend eight seasons at Chelsea. Winning eight major honours at Stamford Bridge including another double winning-season in 2010 before a historic Champions League win in 2012.

Tony Adams

A player who can only be referred to as ‘Mr Arsenal’, Tony Adams encapsulated what Arsenal was in the 1990s and early 2000s, strong-willed, ferocious, and hard to beat. Adams Made over 669 appearances for the club and spent 14 years as captain,

He did manage to win two successive First Division titles from 1989 to 1991 with the Gunners before the Premier League era began, but his game improved massively with the arrival of Arsene Wenger in 1996.

Spending a decade in the Premier League, Adams won two league titles, one League Cup and three FA Cups along with European success with the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup.

While he did possess numerous qualities on the pitch it was his leadership that was ultimately his greatest attribute. Easily Arsenal’s greatest ever captain and defender, Adam’s was truly a special player back in his era.

Sol Campbell

Starting out from boyhood club Tottenham Hotspur, Sol Campbell became a legend and hero for many Spurs fans in the 1990s and the early 2000s with his performances earning him the captaincy prior to Spur’s League Cup success in 1999.

Come 2001, Campbell was one of the hottest commodities in world football, a world-class defender in the prime years of his career. He would shockingly sign for Tottenham’s most hated rivals Arsenal in a free transfer that summer.

The move paid off as Campbell won two Premier League titles with the Gunners, including an invincible season, along with three FA Cups.

During his five years at Arsenal, Campbell made 211 appearances for the club, scoring 12 goals in the process, leaving in 2006 to join Portsmouth where he captained Harry Redknapp’s side to an unlikely FA Cup triumph in 2008. He would re-join Arsenal in 2010 at the age of 36 before retiring a year later with Newcastle United

Regarded as one of the best centre backs of his generation, Campbell was a strong defender with excellent awareness and positioning, physically imposing and a strong tackler, he will go down as an Arsenal and Premier League legend at the annoyance of Spurs fans.

Lee Dixon

A one-club man, right-back Lee Dixon was a typical no-nonsense defender during the 1990s and a key figure in Arsenal’s sturdy defence during that era. Spending over 14 years during the Highbury years from 1988 to 2002, Dixon made over 557 appearances for the club, contributing to 40 goals in that time.

His greatest period as a player came under Arsene Wenger, where he won a total of 11 honours, including four league titles (two of where First Division titles), along with three FA Cups, three Community Shields and the European Cup Winner’s Cup in 1994.

Patrick Vieira

One of the greatest ever defensive midfielders of his era, French midfielder Patrick Vieira proved to be one of Arsene Wenger’s most important signings during his 20-year stint in London.

Acting as the backbone behind Arsenal’s success in the late 1990s to early 2000s, being the destroyer in the middle of the pitch, winning three Premier League titles and four FA Cups, while captaining the side to an Invincible season before departing for Juventus in 2005.

Making over 397 club appearances during his nine years in North London, he returned to England in 2010 for a season with newly rich Manchester City before retiring as a player.

Best known for his battles with Roy Keane, Vieira was a no-nonsense player at the heart of Arsenal’s success. The best thing one can say about Vieria is that since his departure 16 years ago, Arsenal have yet to replace him.

Liam Brady

It’s hard to include a player on this list when you never rightfully watched him during his best years, but in terms of Arsenal legends, Irish midfielder Liam Brady has to be included for numerous reasons.

Mostly known for his professionalism on and off the pitch, Brady was a technically superb talent during his seven years at Arsenal, From 1973 to 1980 Brady was on top of his game with world-class passing, vision, dribbling and close control he became an Arsenal great and found respect after he was long retired.

While he only won the FA Cup in 1979, he won a slew of individual awards, winning the Arsenal Player of the Year and PFA Team of the Year on three consecutive seasons from 1977 to 1979. While also picking up the PFA Player’s Player of the Year in 1979 to top off his prime years.

He made 69 club appearances for the club, contributing to 15 goals, which for that era was very well received.

Freddie Ljungberg

The Swedish maestro joined Arsenal in 1998 during his and the club’s prime years under Arsene Wenger. During his time in the red and white kit, he won two Premier League titles, one of those being an integral part of the 2003/04 Invincible season, along with three FA Cups and a single Charity shield in 1999.

He would go on to make the ESM Team of the Year in 2001/02 and win the Swedish Midfielder of the Year an incredible six times, his first being in 1998 while he would win the award five consecutive ties from 2001 to 2005.

During his nine-year stay in North London, he made 241 Premier League appearances, scoring 48 goals and assisting 29, while he made a total of 327 club appearances for the club where he contributed to 109 goals. A respectable return for a top-class playermaker in his day

Dennis Bergkamp

The Flying Dutchman was simply an exquisite player during his time in England. Signed by then Arsenal manager Bruce Rioch in 1995.

Bergkamp struggled in his first season, with many pundits and fans thinking his style would not suit the rough and tumble style so heavily associated with English football.

How wrong they were.

He went on to be crowned PFA Player’s Player of the Year and a Premier League winner in the 1997/98 season. Scoring the best Premier League hat-trick of all-time at Leicester in the process.

He is fondly remembered by many for his frightening partnership with Thierry Henry, where the pair worked seamlessly together to capture two more league titles, first in 2001/2002 and then their Invincible season in 2003/04.

The player retired in 2006, making over 410 appearances for the red and white, contributing to 206 goals, winning three Premier League titles and four FA Cups, with two of those being doubles.

Roberto Pires

Easily one of Arsenal’s most talented on the ball footballers in recent memory, Robert Pires was seen as one of the most prolific and skilful players in the world during his six years at Arsenal under manager Arsene Wenger.

Joining in 2000, Pires made a name for himself in France playing for Marseille. When he joined the Gunners he instantly brought much-needed flair and elegance to that current Arsenal side at the time.

He made 284 appearances for the club, contributing to 145 goals and winning a whole host of major honours. A two-time Premier League winner, an Invincible season and three FA Cups, Pires was truly a world-class player in his prime and secures his spot on this list quite comfortably.

Thierry Henry

The greatest player to ever grace the Premier League, French forward Thierry Henry was well and truly out of this world during his time in England.

Joining the Gunners from Juventus in 1999 for £11 million, Henry became a world-class player during his 9-year stay in London.

Making over 376 appearances for the club, he contributed to a ridiculous 334 goals in his 8 years in North London. In the Premier League, he scored 175 goals and notched up 74 assists in 258 Premier League appearances, winning two Premier League titles in 2001/02 and 2003/04.

He went on to win the Player of the Season twice in 2003 and 2004 while picking up the Football Writer’s award in 2003, 2004 and 2006 along with four Golden Boots from 2001 to 2006.

Scoring 25+ league goals in five consecutive seasons, as well as being the only player to hit 20+ goals in five consecutive league seasons. In four of those five seasons, he was Premier League’s top scorer.

Ralph Rangnick will get his first chance to claim a win as he plays the Gunners at home in a tough midweek clash in the Premier League

Man United v Arsenal will kick off at 20:15 tonight, Thursday 2nd December in Old Trafford. Referee Martin Atkinson will take charge of the tie.

For those that could not claim a ticket, the match will also be shown live on Premier Sports ROI 1.

This week is the beginning of a transition in Manchester United. On Sunday, German manager Ralf Rangnick was officially appointed as the club’s new boss. He will need to impose his mantra quickly as the club are now three games without a wing.

The Reds team is also hampered by injuries so the new head coach will not have a full list to choose from. This important game will still be the idle moment to endear himself to the Old Trafford faithful.

Mikel Arteta has begun to build a very threatening and consistent side with the young Arsenal team. Since a poor 4-0 loss to Liverpool in November, the Gunners are on a three-game winning streak while Aaron Ramsdale has kept three clean sheets.

They sit in fifth place now but a victory will jump them ahead of West Ham United into the Champions League places. It could be some very important points for the club also resigning their rivals to the tenth place in the table.

Many would consider this fixture to be one of the historic and important matchups in the Premier Leagues’ lifetime. Two of the most successful clubs in the competition but Manchester United have a slight advantage going by statistics. The Red Devils have won 11 of their last 25 games while the Gunners have seven wins and the remaining seven are draws.

Last season was quite an uneventful year for this fixture with only one goal score in both matches combined. Arsenal won the first game away from home while the most recent game in January ended 0-0 in the Emirates Stadium.

Man United v Arsenal Match Betting

Manchester United to win: 19/20

Draw: 5/2

Arsenal to win: 13/5

Score Prediction

This set up to be the biggest and most eye-watering matchup of the midweek fixtures. The match looks to be a six-pointer game that could prove important in how the European places are given out but it is hard to see a victor in this battle between Arteta and Rangnick.

Expect this game to end 1-1 with the sides sharing the points.

The Gunners have finally been beaten, ending their long run but Arteta will want to get back on track against bottom-table Newcastle this weekend

Arsenal v Newcastle United will kick off at 12:30 on Saturday 27th November in the Emirates Stadium. Referee Stuart Atwell will take charge of the tie.

Mikel Arteta’s ten-game unbeaten spell came to an end last week after they were beaten 4-0 by Liverpool. The Gunners were outclassed throughout the field but Aaron Ramsdale still managed to have a strong game between the sticks.

The London Reds will want to forget about that match and move onto this week’s fixture as quickly as possible. They currently sit in fifth place in the league, three points off West Ham in front of them. A win will be crucial for Arsenal this weekend in their fight for European football next year.

Newcastle, on the other hand, might not be playing Premier League football next year. They dwell on the bottom of the table, five points from safety. They are the only team left without a victory this season but they have claimed three draws in their last four matches.

In brighter news, the Magpie’s new manager Eddie Howe will be in the dugout for them tomorrow. Their next three games will be vital for them to pick up points before they go into a tough run of matches.

This has been a long and one-sided fixture over the last decade. In recent history, these two teams have played each other 22 times with the Gunners winning on a whopping 18 occasions. Two games have ended in draws while Newcastle were victorious twice, most recently in 2018.

Another worrying stat for the Magpies is that they have lost and failed to score in the last six games of this matchup. They played in May in which Arsenal were 2-0 winners away from home.

Arsenal v Newcastle United Probable Starting Teams

Arsenal

Formation

4-2-3-1

Probable Starting 11

Ramsdale (GK), Tierney, Gabriel, White, Tomiyasu, Lokonga, Partey, Saka, Odegaard, Aubameyang, Lacazette.

Newcastle United

Formation

Probable Starting 11

Darlow (GK), Clark, Lascelles, Krafth, Ritchie, Shelvey, Willock, Murphy, Saint-Maximin, Wilson, Joelinton.

Injuries / Suspensions

Schar (Hamstring), Dummett (Calf)

Arsenal v Newcastle United Match Betting

Arsenal to win: 4/9

Draw: 7/2

Newcastle United to win: 11/2

Score Prediction

A European hopeful against a team struggling to survive, there is basically only one way this game can go. It would be hard to see this Newcastle side pulling a shock away from home against an Arsenal side looking to claim three easy points.

Expect this game to end 3-0 to Arsenal.

Tyler Morton made his Premier League debut when he came on for Liverpool on Saturday evening in their 4-0 win over Arsenal at Anfield.

It was the 19-year-old’s third senior appearance of the season after appearing in the clubs’ two Carabao Cup fixtures of the season to date.

Morton played 45 minutes against Norwich City and started the team’s 2-0 win over Preston at the base of a midfield three.

He replaced Thiago Alcantara in the 84th minute on Saturday, running onto the Anfield pitch in front of 50,000 fans for the final minutes of the game – the 50,000in attendance included his family.

“As you can see on my face, I can’t wipe the smile off it!” Morton told Liverpoolfc.com.

“It’s a different feeling to any other feeling, especially your boyhood club, as everyone will know. Being a fan all my life and now stepping on the pitch, it felt surreal.

“But that’s where I want to be, so that’s where I’m going to push to be.”

Morton has excelled for Liverpool’s Under-23’s this season and his performances across all competitions for them has earned him spots on the bench in important games such as the Arsenal clash.

His showing in the UEFA Youth League in particular have caught the eye of fans and staff at the club, with his ability to control games evident.

It was fitting that that was his first task as a Premier League player when he replaced Liverpool’s regular conductor, Thiago.

“I was straight in the zone, no messing about for me! I was straight into the game, making sure we secured the win, making sure I kept the ball and doing everything I normally do nicely. It all went to plan in the end.

“My family – everyone dreamed of being a Liverpool footballer and I’ve gone and done it. They tell me every day going to training how proud they are of me. And it just felt so good doing it for them and doing it for my best mate.

“And especially the manager and the players I’m working with are different class, to get a warm ‘well done’ off them is just amazing.”

After Morton’s performances this season at both U23 and senior level, more appearances under Jurgen Klopp are certain to come his way.

Liverpool will monitor the fitness of captain Jordan Henderson and left-back Andrew Robertson ahead of their match against Arsenal after they both picked up injuries during the November international break.

Senegal’s Sadio Mané, who also picked up an injury during this period, is fit and available for the clash – he has been training with the squad this week after returning to Kirkby from international duty.

However, the return to club football comes too soon for a quartet of Liverpool players working their way back into contention.

Roberto Firmino, Joe Gomez, Naby Keita and James Milner will all be unavailable for the match this weekend.

“Robbo was lucky, we can probably say. It was a little bit DOMS, the intensity of all the games he played probably, rather than anything else,” Klopp told Liverpoolfc.com on Thursday.

“He was smart enough to [make] the right decision, he went off early, which he usually is not doing. But in this case it was absolutely right, and so there’s a good chance that he can be involved at the weekend.

“Hendo, a little bit more [injured] than Robbo but a chance for the weekend. So we are working on that. It’s not a serious injury but in this short period of time we have to see if he is ready for Saturday. But after that, 100 per cent, and possibly for Arsenal as well.

“Sadio is fine – painful but fine. Everybody who had a rib bruise knows it’s an annoying thing. But Sad trained here with us now in all sessions.

“We took him out a little bit earlier here and there when we knew now it will be full contact, stuff like this, just to give it a bit more time to settle. But he looks fine.”

Liverpool face Arsenal at Anfield on Saturday, November 20 at 5:30 pm.

Mikel Arteta’s ever-improving Gunners will be looking for another three points as they face newly-promoted Watford in the Premier League

Arsenal v Watford will kick off at 14:00 on Sunday 7th November in the Emirates Stadium. Referee Kevin Friend will take charge of the tie.

The match will also be shown live on Sky Sports Premier League Ireland.

Arteta’s men come into this game with three straight wins and nine games unbeaten. Last week they overcame Leicester City to win 2-0 with the help of Aaron Ramsdale in goal.

They are starting to build a strong team and the manager will be happy to know that his team have no new injuries in their ranks.

Watford has become one of the new exciting teams in the top-flight this year. Their new manager Claudio Ranieri is still yet to find steady form after they lost 1-0 to Southampton last Saturday.

The Hornets currently sit in 16th, only three points above Burnley in the relegation zone. Their upcoming games are very tough so they will need points this weekend to keep their survival hopes alive.

The Gunners have been the superior force in this fixture in recent years. In the last eleven matches, Arsenal have won seven games and Watford have one three while they have been one draw.

They last faced each other in July 2020 where Arsenal came away 3-2 winners in the Emirates. You would have to look back to 2017 to see the last time that Watford won this tie.

The impressive Arsenal women’s football team has claimed the WSL Player and Manager of the Month awards for October

The London club completed a clean sweep at last month’s awards ceremony. Ireland star Katie McCabe earned the Player of the Month award while Jonas Eidevall won the Manager of the Month.

This is the second time this season that the league leaders, Arsenal women’s team won both awards. Eidevall claimed the award in September along with player Beth Mead.

These awards are a major sign of the improvements that the head coach has brought to the club since being appointed in the summer. They held a one hundred percent winning record this month.

McCabe also was a big reason for their success, helping them to win two games. The Irishwoman was nominated for the monthly award along with teammates Kim Little and Lotte Wubben-Moy. The WSL also nominated Manchester United’s Hannah Blundell and Ella Toone as well as Chelsea’s Fran Kirby.

McCabe scored three goals and got three assists in five matches this year. The 26-year-old has also played a big part in Arsenal’s Champions League run so far. They sit in second place behind Barcelona after two games.

Arsenal women’s team now go into the weekend three points ahead of second-place Chelsea. Their next game is against sixth-place West Ham United on Sunday.

The game kicks off at 18:45 on Sunday, 7th November in Meadow Park.

Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers and winger Harvey Barnes have singled out the side’s poor start as the reason for their 2-0 loss to Arsenal in front of their home fans.

Two goals in the first 20 minutes saw the Foxes’ five-game unbeaten streak come to an end, despite finding their way into the game later on.

Gabriel Magalhaes and Emile Smith-Rowe took advantage of a sluggish opening from Leicester and helped Arsenal to take control of the fixture early on.

“A poor start cost us,” Rodgers told LCFC TV. “It’s a lack of concentration and then you’re chasing the game against a good side.

“We’ve been able to do it in a few games recently where we’ve not bad a great start and come back, but you can’t give teams a 2-0 start, especially a good team like Arsenal.

“We had to make changes to shift the dynamic of the game, but we got punished for that opening 20 minutes.

“We were too passive, so it is a concern. When you have players finding the level and the constant mentality, if you don’t start the game well, then it can cost you and today it cost us. In the second half, we can’t have any complaints. I thought we were excellent.

“We had to make changes to shift the dynamic of the game, but we got punished for that opening 20 minutes. Both [Harvey Barnes and Ademola Lookman] were excellent.

“They gave us that pressure higher up the pitch. We could condense the game up there and we were much better.”

Harvey Barnes spoke of his disappointment after the side’s defeat to the North London team: “It’s a disappointing one for us. Obviously, the first half, as a team, we weren’t good enough and we gave ourselves a big task going into the second half.

“We performed a bit better in the second half, but we couldn’t get the goal to get us back in the game. It’s a disappointing day.”

Level on points, ninth place Leicester take on tenth place Arsenal in week ten of the Premier League this weekend

Leicester v Arsenal will kick off at 12:30 on Sunday, 30th October in the King Power Stadium. English referee Michael Oliver will take charge of the tie.

Leicester comes into this tie after beating Brighton in a penalty shootout midweek in the EFL Cup. Their starting team will be much changed along with the injuries to Jamie Vardy and Wesley Fofana.

The Foxes currently sit in ninth place, unbeaten in five games. Brendan Rodgers will have his team pumped for this match in hopes of another important victory.

Mikel Arteta has turned his squad into a force to be reckoned with. They are now eight games unbeaten, winning their last two games. The Gunners were also victorious in the EFL Cup after they beat Leeds United at home 2-0 on Tuesday.

The London club will be hoping that two of their injury worries will be fit to play this match. Midfielder Martin Odegaard and defender Kieren Tierney both missed this week’s cup game with knocks.

This has been a hotly contested affair in the last few years with both sides sharing victories. Over the last ten years, Arsenal has won eight of their 15 meetings while Leicester has managed four wins, and there have been three draws.

Last season, the away team won each fixture with the Gunners most recently winning 3-1 at the King Power Stadium.
