A gang armed with wooden planks and knives stormed into a shared workers’ dormitory, battered the residents, and stripped them of their belongings — including a wallet stuffed with BD200 — before vanishing into the night.
One of the culprits, an Asian national, had his prison sentence cut from five years to three by the High Criminal Court, though he will be booted out of the country once he’s served his time.
The four victims had been minding their own business in their cramped quarters when the first defendant, backed by a mob of fellow countrymen, smashed through the door and barged in.
Resistance
The attackers wielded wooden planks and knives, leaving no room for resistance.
They laid into the residents, knocked them about, then rifled through their pockets, making off with whatever they could grab before scarpering.
Shaken but not silenced, the victims took their case to the authorities.
Investigators pieced together what happened, and when the police lined up photographs of suspects, the victims had no trouble picking out the ringleader.
Medical reports confirmed one of them had suffered bruises and scrapes from blows with a solid object.
The court took a second look at the case and decided to soften the punishment, cutting the sentence down to three years.
But there will be no second chances once his time is up — he’ll be kicked out of Bahrain for good.
