The collapse, which was caused by a gas cylinder explosion, resulted in severe structural damage to the two-story building that housed a restaurant and a commercial store.

At 7:40 PM, the main operations room received an emergency call reporting the explosion, which led to the building’s collapse. Major General Dr. Shaikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Deputy Chief of Public Security, stated, “We hope that no more injuries or fatalities occur. Our staff are still searching under the debris.”

Casualties and Rescue Efforts
According to the latest updates:

  • Two people have died in the incident.
  • Six others sustained injuries and are receiving treatment at King Hamad Hospital.
  • Two individuals were rescued from under the rubble.
  • The Civil Defense deployed 38 personnel and seven fire engines to manage the rescue efforts and ensure public safety.

Investigation Launched
Authorities have summoned the owner of the collapsed building and launched an investigation to determine the circumstances and causes of the explosion. Legal proceedings will be carried out to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Eyewitness Accounts
Local residents and passersby described the terrifying moment of the collapse.

"We were sitting at home when we suddenly heard a loud explosion. We rushed outside to understand what had happened. It was shocking to see a building completely collapsed," an eyewitness told Alayam reporters.

Another witness recalled, "We reached the main road, trying to find the source of the sound. When we arrived, we saw the collapsed building and injured people. We couldn’t do anything but wait for Civil Defense personnel to arrive."

A nearby resident added, "I was at home when I heard a sound that I cannot describe. It was terrifying."

Authorities continue to urge the public to stay clear of the affected area as rescue operations and investigations progress. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
