REVIEWS

Review by Rick Pollock (posted on 24-May-2011)

This may be an average, typical early 1950s musicale, but the cast is gret with the charming Bob Cummings and Phil Silvers at his usual hysterical and throw in Nancy Walker. But the saving grace is america's great treasure, Doris Day. The story line may be trite, but Doris Day always seems to pull off a wonderful performance. You just fall in love with her. Great sets, beautiful costumes, and a nice score complete this production. As an aside, Doris Day has been bypassed for a lifetime achievement award for keeping the industry going through 3 generations of movie goers. Quite an achievement for anyone for 5 years let alone two decades. Enjoy this production with her other first 5 years of movie work. Watch her grow and be entertained.
