Mastodon have posted the first track from their fifth studio album ‘The Hunter’ online.
The track, which is titled ‘Black Tongue’, was previewed in the trailer for the album, but has now been posted online in full. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click to hear it.
The band have also named the release date for ‘The Hunter’ as September 26 and said that the album’s first official single will be titled ‘Curl Of The Burl’.
The album, which is the follow-up to 2009’s ‘Crack The Skye’, does not yet have a confirmed tracklisting, but the band have indicated that songs titled ‘Blasteroids’, ‘All The Heavy Lifting’, ‘Dry Bone Valley’, ‘Stargasm’ and ‘The Octopus Has No Friends’ are likely to feature alongside ‘Black Tongue’ and ‘Curl Of The Burl’.
The band said at the weekend that they expect the album will encourage their fans to get drunk and strip naked in public.
Guitarist/vocalist Brent Hinds predicted that the LP will cause mayhem when it’s released later this year, telling Rolling Stone:
Kids are going to get into trouble to this album. They’re going to break speakers, pop springs on their beds and get drunk and nude in public.
