Pedro Martínez-Pagán graduated in mining engineering (BSc. 1994), at the Technical University of Cartagena, Spain, and graduated in mining engineering (MSc. 1999) at the Vigo School of Mines (University of Vigo, Spain). In 2006, he obtained a PhD in mining geophysics at the Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena (UPCT), Spain, where he is currently an associate professor in Mining Engineering and Applied Geophysics in the Department of Mining and Civil Engineering. In 2003, he was a visiting researcher at the University of Lausanne (Switzerland), and in 2009 he was a visiting researcher at the Colorado School of Mines (USA). His research interest mainly concerns the application of near-surface geophysics to mining, environmental, hydrogeology, archaeology, seismic engineering, etc. He is the author of more than 40 publications, has managed special issues as a guest editor, and has been invited to give lectures in the USA, EU, and Morocco. He is the main researcher of the research group “Near-Surface Applied Geophysics” at the UPCT.
