"This movie was a big part of my childhood, the Los Lobos cover of La Bamba was all over the radio that summer and I will forever be scarred by the image of Esai Morales screaming Ritchiiiie into the sky. Shame this was only released on a limited Twilight Time Blu-ray, so I need to have the DVD in the collection."

"Re-watch - Aug. 14th My parents were teenagers in the '50s, and they've always listened to music from that decade so I was exposed to Ritchie Valens, Buddy Holly, and other artists from a young age. So when La Bamba came out I watched it with my family, and caught it several times on cable over the years. I don't think I'd seen it since the '90s ended, however, so I wanted to give it another look. And for the most part it's a well-told account of the brief career of Valens. The cast is excellen"
