" Notes: First of all, is it really a horror feature? To be honest, I thought the damned thing was actually sometimes pretty funny above all because of the mannered acting of those silent movies. I mean, with a Charles Chaplin movie, it works like a charm but with a horror flick like this one, it makes you chuckle on a regular basis. Furthermore, even though at first I was quite happy with the awesome classic music, it was actually rather distracting because, since it wasnât especially compose"

“(OK) A masterpiece where each part, directors justo for once, innovations (duo technicolor), story (great Ledoux), Chaney and the best of productios wirth elegance, and timing and progression (there's no hecatomb or burning of the opera, just a chandelier falls)...” read more
"24.6. Lon Chaneyn parhaita. TÀstÀ leffasta on olemassa varmaan miljoona erilaista versiota, aitoa ja alkuperÀistÀ ei ole kokonaan sÀilynyt vaan nykyÀÀn katsottavissa olevat versiot on koottu erilaisista kierrossa olevista kappaleista. Ihan hassuna yksityiskohtana niistÀ identtisistÀ kappaleistakin on olemassa vÀhÀn erilaisia versiota, koska niitÀ on alkujaan koottu vÀhÀn eri otoksista ja samaan aikaan usealla kameralla kuvatusta matskusta."

" Date: 10/15/2019 Viewed: Blu-Ray Re-watch Note: I still consider this movie to be the best Silent horror movie from North America during the 1920s in my opinion. I love the atmosphere and the music that this movie has because the movie feels very creepy and even a bit surreal at times. The color scenes are awesome because they are revolutionary for their time, and they have that authentic feeling to them like most color in silent movies do. Not to mention, the set designs for this movie are "
"28.7. Lon Chaneyn tÀhdittÀmÀ varhainen kauhuelokuva on hyvin viihdyttÀvÀÀ ja komeissa lavasteissa kuvattua hirviökauhua. Chaneyn tavaramerkiksi muodostuneet maskit tuntuvat omassa miljöössÀÀn karmivilta. Useaan otteeseen filmatisoitu tarina ei ole mitenkÀÀn ihmeellinen ja mullistava, mutta harvemmin se tÀllaisissa tapauksissa onkaan. Keskivaiheilla nÀhtÀvÀ vÀrijakso nÀyttÀÀ erityisen hienolta, mutta niin nÀyttÀvÀt BFI:n BD:n kuvanlaatu ja vÀritinttauksetkin."
