Cher (born Cherilyn Sarkisian on May 20, 1946) is an American singer, actress, director, entertainer and fashion icon.

Cher has had a total of 15 number one hits and a total of 33 top ten hits on all Billboard charts combined. Cher's career as a recording artist spans six decades and is the only artist (counting Sonny and Cher's "I Got You Babe") to have a number-one single on a Billboard chart in each of those past six decades. This feat was accomplished when "You Haven't Seen the Last of Me" reached number one on the Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart the week of January 19, 2011.

In the UK, she is the only female artist to have a top 40 hit in six consecutive decades. She has had a total of 34 top 40 hits, beginning with "All I Really Want To Do" in 1965 to "I Hope You Find It" in 2013.

Cher has also starred in several films including 'Silkwood' which earned her a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in 1983 and 'Moonstruck' for which she won the Academy Award for Best Actress in 1988.

She also starred in and directed one of the 3 segments of the television movie 'If These Walls Could Talk' in 1996.
