In my latest article for Techopedia, I spoke with Andy Bell, SVP of Global Data Product Management at Precisely, who revealed a sobering reality. A few days ago marked 90 days at 15Five. This move included both a new career and a new company, so I hope these insights inspire folks to make a bold move. Here is a quick thematic reflection of the first 90 days of my new career and company: - Change is hard - Curiosity is a key element of success - Thank you, Gemini AI, for being a thought partner - Thank you, NotebookLM, for helping me onboard faster (see robot overlords, I said thank you twice) - Experience is the greatest teacher - Autonomy with guidance and coaching (learn by misstep) - Building a Swiss Army Knife of advisors is game-changing - You are not as smart as you think - One word - newsletters - Second word - podcasts - My apologies to all the HR Tech product and engineering folks I have quietly cursed during my HR career - HR people are amazing (this one I knew already) - HR Tech is hard (see above, my apology) - 15Five is undoubtedly the best HR tech platform I have seen, and I have seen so many of them in my career - I know they sign the front of my check now, but the previous statement is TRUE. - The vision for the immediate and long-term future at 15Five is amazing (read my previous blog posts to get a glimpse) - Confirming once and for all - I hate to lose more than I love to win - 15Five is hands down the best structured company and tech for an AI in HR future - Data is not the new oil; insights are the new oil. - The HR rituals need to work and happen. - Be comfortable with being uncomfortable - Imposter syndrome is real and can happen with 20+ years of experience - AI will not replace people; it will augment and empower people - Get recommendations from experts on books and read them all - Change is hard, especially when you don’t control it. - Think differently
