An emergency notification may be activated by designated responsible authorities when there is confirmation of a dangerous situation and/or immediate threat to the health and safety of the UCLA community, or segment thereof.

  • Example: Shelter-In-Place ordered at UCLA.

Depending on the type of emergency, BruinALERT uses pre-defined crisis communications levels to determine the type of notifications delivered. Notifications may be delivered via email, SMS text message, phone call, Bruins Safe Online, or Nixle.

  • Remain calm & listen/read the emergency notification carefully.
  • Follow the protective measures as directed, and assist those around you if safe to do so.
  • Follow the instructions of any follow-up notifications, or from uniformed public safety personnel in your area.
  • DO NOT call 9-1-1 unless you’re instructed to do so – this will only tie up emergency phone lines.
