Comparing Federal Communications Commission and Microsoft Estimates of Broadband Access for Mental Health Video Telemedicine Among Veterans: Retrospective Cohort Study

Identifying how the definition of broadband speeds may influence research conclusions will inform the development of more robust research methodologies, aid in developing targeted health system initiatives to reduce the digital divide, and ultimately improve patient access to care.

Acceptability of App-Based Contact Tracing for COVID-19: Cross-Country Survey Study

Acceptability of App-Based Contact Tracing for COVID-19: Cross-Country Survey Study

Ferretti and colleagues [7] have proposed digital (app-based) contact tracing as an alternative measure to contain the epidemic without the large economic costs of lockdowns. The idea is to use low-energy Bluetooth connections between phones to record the interactions users have with others, particularly those interactions that may pose a higher risk of infection (eg, spending more than 15 minutes within 2 meters of another person).

Digital Mental Health for Schizophrenia and Other Severe Mental Illnesses: An International Consensus on Current Challenges and Potential Solutions

Digital Mental Health for Schizophrenia and Other Severe Mental Illnesses: An International Consensus on Current Challenges and Potential Solutions

The pandemic showed that a shift to digital platforms to deliver synchronous mental health services could be rapidly implemented [2] and can be an acceptable format for many clinicians, patients, and carers [3,4]. However, asynchronous digital approaches (eg, measuring symptoms using digital phenotyping or ecological momentary assessment or providing partially automated therapies using digital platforms) show even more potential to increase capacity and outcomes [5].

Digitally Disconnected: Qualitative Study of Patient Perspectives on the Digital Divide and Potential Solutions

Digitally Disconnected: Qualitative Study of Patient Perspectives on the Digital Divide and Potential Solutions

While studies have assessed the demographics of the digital divide, none have directly explored patient perspectives on the digital divide and potential impacts. We aimed to interview patients to understand their perspectives on (1) the definition, causes, and impact of the digital divide; (2) whose responsibility it is to address the digital divide; and (3) potential solutions to mitigate the digital divide. The UCMC serves a diverse medically underserved patient population on the South Side of Chicago.

The Digital Divide and Cognitive Disparities Among Older Adults: Community-Based Cohort Study in China

The Digital Divide and Cognitive Disparities Among Older Adults: Community-Based Cohort Study in China

Thus, it is crucial to consider how the digital divide influences both the development and reversion of MCI. It can be foreseen that the digital divide will put the older population in a state of resource inequality, impacting their future cognitive development.

A Data-Free Digital Platform to Reach Families With Young Children During the COVID-19 Pandemic: Online Survey Study

A Data-Free Digital Platform to Reach Families With Young Children During the COVID-19 Pandemic: Online Survey Study

There is considerable optimism about the potential application and expansion of digital technologies to fill gaps in knowledge and supplement health and social care during the pandemic [14]. These include public communication using mobile phones and the internet, surveys, digital surveillance and contact tracing, electronic clinical monitoring, telehealth, and counseling services [15].

Segmenting Patients With Diabetes With the Navigator Service in Primary Care and a Description of the Self-Acting Patient Group: Cross-Sectional Study

Segmenting Patients With Diabetes With the Navigator Service in Primary Care and a Description of the Self-Acting Patient Group: Cross-Sectional Study

There are multiple digital alternatives for realizing health services, supporting patients’ care, and delivering care information to patients [1-5]. Digitalization increases accessibility in health care, and therefore, it may improve equity in delivering services to, for example, rural areas [3,6,7]. Additionally, digital interventions may efficiently and safely improve patients’ self-management skills [1,3-6,8-10]. However, digital services are not appropriate for all patients.

Using Digital Tools to Engage Patients With Psychosis and Their Families in Research: Survey Recruitment and Completion in an Early Psychosis Intervention Program

Using Digital Tools to Engage Patients With Psychosis and Their Families in Research: Survey Recruitment and Completion in an Early Psychosis Intervention Program

The body of research on use of electronic questionnaires does not specifically consider the preferences and digital literacy of people with serious mental illness [24]. Furthermore, given the lack of research in this area, institutional review boards (IRBs) tasked with assessing the risks associated with emerging digital tools have little guidance, which may lead to a slow approval process [25].

How to Use the Six-Step Digital Ethnography Framework to Develop Buyer Personas: The Case of Fan Fit

How to Use the Six-Step Digital Ethnography Framework to Develop Buyer Personas: The Case of Fan Fit

Digital communication channels offer great benefits to marketers for understanding customer behavior to bring customer centricity to the core of digital marketing strategies. The buyer persona concept was designed specifically for digital marketing strategies and is linked with the concept of the buyer persona spring, as outlined by Heinze et al [1]. Buyer personas can also be applied within the health domain and are useful for marketing health-related initiatives.
