Development of an Index of Engagement in HIV Care: An Adapted Internet-Based Delphi Process

Development of an Index of Engagement in HIV Care: An Adapted Internet-Based Delphi Process

We recruited group 2 (HIV providers with at least half-time clinical practice) through email invitations from our partners in the Centers for AIDS Research Network of Integrated Clinical Systems (CNICS), a cohort of more than 30,000 patients at eight HIV care sites in the United States. For this group, we sought a range of providers, including physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, and social workers.

HIV Care and Viral Suppression During the Last Year of Life: A Comparison of HIV-Infected Persons Who Died of HIV-Attributable Causes With Persons Who Died of Other Causes in 2012 in 13 US Jurisdictions

HIV Care and Viral Suppression During the Last Year of Life: A Comparison of HIV-Infected Persons Who Died of HIV-Attributable Causes With Persons Who Died of Other Causes in 2012 in 13 US Jurisdictions

Stage of disease was based on the most recent CD4 cell count or percentage, and was defined in a reversible way, so that a person whose HIV disease had previously met the criteria for stage 3 (AIDS) could be reclassified in stage 1 if the most recent CD4 cell count was ≥500 cells/µL [7].

Preventing Cognitive Decline in Older Latino Adults With HIV Through a Culturally Tailored Health Promotion Intervention: Protocol for a Single-Arm Pilot Trial

Preventing Cognitive Decline in Older Latino Adults With HIV Through a Culturally Tailored Health Promotion Intervention: Protocol for a Single-Arm Pilot Trial

The biomarkers were assayed at the University of Miami Center for AIDS Research Laboratory Sciences Core using a commercially available enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. HOLA is a multicomponent health promotion intervention for older Latino adults. The first component consists of 2 manualized social and physical activation sessions.

Patterns of HIV or AIDS Mortality Among Older People From 1990 to 2019 in China: Age-Period-Cohort Analysis

Patterns of HIV or AIDS Mortality Among Older People From 1990 to 2019 in China: Age-Period-Cohort Analysis

HIV and AIDS have been prevalent in China for more than 30 years since the first case of HIV was reported in 1985 [1]. Due to the substantial number of deaths attributed to the virus, HIV or AIDS has become the most severe notifiable infectious disease accounting for the most deaths, over 18,819, in 2020 in China [2].

The Effectiveness of Electronic Health Interventions for Promoting HIV-Preventive Behaviors Among Men Who Have Sex With Men: Meta-Analysis Based on an Integrative Framework of Design and Implementation Features

The Effectiveness of Electronic Health Interventions for Promoting HIV-Preventive Behaviors Among Men Who Have Sex With Men: Meta-Analysis Based on an Integrative Framework of Design and Implementation Features

The search strategy comprised 4 categories of terms related to e Health technology, HIV or AIDS, the MSM population, and experimental study design, which were tailor-made for each database with restrictions to the English language and human studies (Multimedia Appendix 1). We manually searched bibliographies of relevant reviews, initially retrieved articles, and JMIR Publications to identify additional eligible studies. The eligibility criteria are listed in Table 1.

Population Size Estimation of Gay and Bisexual Men and Other Men Who Have Sex With Men Using Social Media-Based Platforms

Population Size Estimation of Gay and Bisexual Men and Other Men Who Have Sex With Men Using Social Media-Based Platforms

The normative agency responsible for providing estimates of population size to inform mathematical models of HIV transmission is the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS). Given the lack of national estimates of GBMSM, UNAIDS relies on United Nations member states to submit data on population size estimates [16]. These estimates have significant variability in the quality of the underlying studies and representativeness.

A Comparison of Web and Telephone Responses From a National HIV and AIDS Survey

However, telephone questionnaires can be relatively resource intensive and may have difficulty using visual aids [3,4]. By contrast, Web questionnaires are often less expensive and easier to implement but may be affected by lower response rates, item nonresponse, greater potential for fraud, and Internet accessibility issues that affect representativeness [3,5-7].

Understanding Physical Activity Determinants in an HIV Self-Management Intervention: Qualitative Analysis Guided by the Theory of Planned Behavior

Understanding Physical Activity Determinants in an HIV Self-Management Intervention: Qualitative Analysis Guided by the Theory of Planned Behavior

People living with HIV now experience an increasing burden of chronic illness and have higher morbidity and mortality rates for non–AIDS-related health complications, like CVD, than the general population [1,3,7,32]. Physical activity has been shown to have various health benefits such as reducing CVD risk, increasing physical function and vitality, and improving an individual's overall cardiometabolic profile [8].

A Theory-Based mHealth Intervention (Getting Off) for Methamphetamine-Using Men Who Have Sex With Men: Protocol for a Randomized Controlled Trial

A Theory-Based mHealth Intervention (Getting Off) for Methamphetamine-Using Men Who Have Sex With Men: Protocol for a Randomized Controlled Trial

Providing meth treatment to MSM is a public health imperative for addressing HIV/AIDS in the 21st century. MSM use smartphones for sexual partner selection, sexual health information, and sexual identity expression at a higher rate than non-MSM [36-41], and they also use smartphone apps to facilitate GPS-based sexual partner selection (eg, Scruff, Grindr, and Jack’d) [42-44]. Such behaviors increase the odds of both meth use and HIV sexual risk behavior [45].
