White skirts are an absolute summer favorite, something you'll probably see in spring and resort collections if you happen to be following trends. The white maxi skirt is currently beloved in the fashion world, either in denim form or as a more flowy piece. But a white skirt is also something you can wear in a trendless way: as part of a set, underneath a sweater, or even just with a plain tank top. Wear it to the beach, to a party with friends, or even running errands (just keep your coffee away from it!).

Keep scrolling for white-skirt inspo, whether you've got your eye on a new item or you're just hoping to get more use out of a favorite piece.

White Tulle

Tulle skirts have long been associated with Sex and the City, so if you're leaning in on a "Carrie Bradshaw-in-the-city" vibe, a white tulle skirt is a nice pick. Keeping it floor-length and pairing it with structure, like a blazer, keeps it from looking too frou-frou.

Mini Minimalism

By contrast, a white miniskirt can also feature in the daring, look-at-me statement-making outfit you might want for warm weather. Here it's paired with a pearl-encrusted bralette, but it would work just as well with a plain t-shirt and chunky sandals for a dressed-down version.

With Corsetry

If it-girl Emma Chamberlain's doing it, it must be fashionable! The high-water hemline is a nice alternative to full-length, and the matching corset top to the white skirt makes the whole outfit feel like a sexy suit. Pairing a structured top and bottom with red accents will say, "I'm absolutely nailing my workday outfit."

An Asymmetric Hem

This is a perfect way to transition into fall: a brown satin shirt and boots in a darker, more cold weather-appropriate color, contrasted with an airy handkerchief skirt. You can swap the heels with high boots that go underneath the skirt and add on a blazer if it's chilly.

All-Over Lace

Dressing like a doily is cool, didn't you know? Seriously, though, a lacy skirt—or a lacy coordinating set if you want to be bold—makes for a very fun statement. A tank and see-through skirt set work well for summer events, especially with some structured and chic accessories.

A Full Denim Maxi

Not us fully adding a pretty silver-white denim maxi to our cart immediately! Seriously, though, a floor-length denim skirt feels substantial when it's darker denim, but in a lighter color, it takes on a more summery quality. As it gets colder, pair it with a blazer, but keep things tonal with a white tank to match.

With a Long Duster

Or, if you want to channel a modern all-white look, take a frayed white maxi denim skirt and pair it with a racerback tee and floor-length duster jacket. The trick is to make sure the clothes aren't all the exact same color of white: match a cream duster with white patents and an eggshell skirt.

Big and Baggy

We love a sweater dress, and this set is the next best thing. A long cardigan with an A-line ribbed skirt underneath feels flowy and relaxed. So pairing them with pointed mules or boots and a black shoulder bag offers contrast, grounding the look and helping it feel more fall or winter.

Over Black Tights

If you think a white mini can't be work-appropriate, think again! The key is to add some very opaque black tights and heels, which make the outfit suitable for even the most conservative of offices. Matching a white skirt with a cropped blazer makes this perfect for a big meeting.

Wrapped Up

A wrap skirt is timeless, but it also matches well with trendier items. In this case, it falls over thigh-high socks and chunky boots, with the slit offering a perfect glimpse of the footwear. A textural top gives just the right amount of visual interest, and the skirt ties everything together.

With a Matching Vest

It's a three-piece-suit-white-skirt outfit (brilliant). Seriously, though, a combination of a white skirt and white vest makes for a nice structured outfit on its own, but add a white blazer and some very cool shoes for a fashion-girl feel. Don't forget the iconic bright lip that draws attention to your face.

In Black and White

If a full suit feels like too much, match your white maxi skirt with a white cardigan plus a black tee and bag. The white on top and bottom serve as a base layer so the accessories can really shine. The whole vibe is "black-and-white cookie, but chic!"

With Buttons

A skirt that buttons on the side (here with a matching pocket) feels like a slightly more tailored version of a plain pencil skirt. Feel free to pair it with lots of texture and layering—the skirt is substantial enough to hold its own against chunky heels, a vest, and even a big hat.

With Pants

Wearing a skirt over your pants might feel like peak 2004, but we promise there's a chic way to do it. Technically this is a short skirt belt from Fendi, but it's just as easy to pair a white mini with some flowy white trousers, a cardigan, and a lacy tee on top to give you layers upon white layers.

Under a Trench

Wrapping a short trench around a tank and mini skirt might sound like black belt-level fashion mastery, but it's just as easy to take an oversized blazer or Oxford tee and wrap it around yourself, securing it with a belt and finishing off the look with an upscale bag and cute heels.

In Tonal Hues

A simple all-white look in a light material can be chic in both summer and winter, so long as you pair it with the right accessories. A heavier sock-and-shoe combo draws the eye to the ground and makes the whole look feel thoughtful instead of saying "summer vacation outfit."

White Cargo

A simple skirt gets a fun visual refresh with cargo pockets on the side. With a "tougher" looking style, you can pair sportier elements with it, like a jersey and Adidas sneakers. Or you can keep the rest of the look feminine in a lacy top and ballet flats.

Chic Suiting

A crisp white blazer and skirt (in this case, Michael Kors) is a nice matching moment, but to prevent it from feeling too formal or dressy, add a chunky sock boot in a cool color and a deep V-neck body underneath. Plus, the blazer can come off if the weather's transitional.

Low-Rise Maxi

Feel free to mix up the construction of your white skirt. A maxi with a bubble hem and a low-rise elastic waist is a nice alternative to a simple A-line version. A cream blazer on top, plus a pop of color in your bag and shoes, will give the look dimension without feeling too busy.

The Occasion Skirt

Finally, there's the formal, big-fashion-moment white skirt. Think textural with some volume. It's something that could skew a tiny bit bridal, so this is the perfect moment to break out a heavier jacket and darker tights. Let the details on the skirt take center stage—it's earned the privilege.
