America Recycles Day is November 15, 2024!

Governor Eric Holcomb issued a proclamation declaring November 15, America Recycles Day in Indiana [PDF].

America Recycles Day serves as a nationally recognized occasion to emphasize the significance of reducing, reusing, and recycling.

There are 68 Solid Waste Management Districts (SWMDs) across the state. To find your local district visit the Solid Waste Managment Districts page. For counties without a SWMD, recycling is usually handled by the county. In Marion County, see the City of Indianapolis’ Office of Sustainability.

Grant Funding for Waste Tire Cleanup Projects

IDEM has $300,000 available in funding to help Solid Waste Management Districts (SWMDs) in Indiana implement waste tire cleanup projects. Potential applicants are invited to register to attend one of the virtual information sessions at the links below:

• Thursday, Nov. 14, 2024, 10:30-11:30 a.m.
• Monday, Nov. 25, 2024, 1:00-2:00 p.m.

IDEM will accept grant applications from December 17, 2024 - January 17, 2025. Grants up to $10,000 will be awarded on or around February 1, 2025.

Partners for Clean Air Scholarship Information

The application window for Partners for Clean Air (PCA) scholarships is open. Applicants must be a senior at a high school in Lake, Porter or LaPorte counties, demonstrate how their planned field of study supports the goals of the organization, and meet other qualifications.

More information and a link to the application is available on the Partners for Clean Air Scholarship page. Consideration will be limited to the first 100 applications received and/or those received by 5:00 p.m. CST on April 30, 2025, whichever comes first.
