Your Highness (2011)
Worst film forced to spend £23 on ever.
I was in London when this film was released and my partner came to visit me. We decided between Your highness or Limitless, in retrospect we really should have waited a bit longer for Limitless. It cost £23 for the both of us as it was in Leicester square. There was 3 people in the cinema, the lights went dim, there was a promise that this film would be amazing. What was it? It was absolute vitriol from start to finish with the deepest pit of toilet humour I've had the misfortune to witness. Some people have said we are hypocrites, I love humour if it is good but it doesn't even fit into a decent storyline. There is no reason for hanging a penis from your neck, or making a small purple alien into a sicko pervert, or any of the other jokes that fell flat because the only thing they were actually good for was the advert. Kudos to the editor of that ad for making the film seem really funny because that was pretty much it with the same amount of storyline. Even Natalie Portman couldn't save it, nor Zooey Deschanel. Nor even Danny Mcbride. I spent half the film fiddling with Facebook on the phone and would have happily walked out half way through if my partner hadn't been sadistically enjoying it. It is probably man humour of the lowest, stalest pit of someones mind. It isn't satire, you can't call it black comedy, it is merely awful.
The Black Dahlia (2006)
great film, executed badly
where to begin. the storyline is fairly good, they had plenty of material to work with though i don't know the case that well. And I've heard that the director is a good one. The trailer looked excellent. The cast was picked well. And it had a good noir style soundtrack and monologue system. so why oh why was it so bad. The beginning spends time telling you stuff you don't need to know, about the 'happy days' with total over acting. Scarlet J is a fair...over-actor, regardless of her nice hair and pouty lips. Josh H's partner is also just totally messed up. even for an idiot. Hilary swank was a nice femme fatal although very cliché, she may have been a good thing. wasn't too sure about the messed up accents of the one family, and the mad Muppet they had in there, although i must admit the mother was by far the funniest thing in there.the forensics and body cud have had more effort put into, me and my partner swear the hand was plastic. or looked plastic. the intro is too long and the rest of the story is confusing, many a time i heard the whisper in my ear of "what?...huh?" which if a films good u should barely ever hear. the ending was...a form of, i suspect Happiness. or maybe we were just happy to get out of there
Qi jian (2005)
watch it watch it watch it
I agree with the above (or below) reviewer, the film was excellent, i just got home from watching it at the cinema. The characters were great and the story (U NEED TO PAY ATTENTION TO IT) is really good, the only issue i had was that it seemed to jump, like say one second the characters are doing one thing and the next there's a whole new bunch of characters and your like- well where in hell did they come from, and sometimes i found links silly, its like scenes were cut our for necessity, but it didn't necessarily aid the film. please watch it and when i comes out on DVD no doubt it'll have a bunch of deleted scenes, but its really worth seeing. I went with my Nan and even she enjoyed it. Now what does that say!?
