The movie doesn't deserve all the hate. But even if you look at the movie unbiased, it's still a mess. Most of all:
I need to emphasize that Zegler did a great job. She took what was handed to her, put her voice and her soul in it, and it worked. But it couldn't save this mess which was dead on arrival, befor the snow fell.
- Zegler is a great singer, but she's misplaced. Blame the producers.
- Gal Gadot is as beautiful as she is horrible as an actress.
- The dwarfs are simply weird and scary.
- The world is nice, but soulless.
- The songs are beautiful, but completely forgettable.
- But worst of all, they messed up Dopey. DIdn't know this was humanly possible, but they did.

Visually stunning, as most of Tim Burton's movies, but at least his previous movies have some coherence when it comes to story, plot, character and development. Peregrine however only has a strong role done by Eva Green and a funny role by Sam Jackson. Everything else was messy, sloppy, chaotic, random, childish (not in a good way like Big Fish) but most of all: completely miscast and with stunningly horrible acting. Most of all by Asa Butterfield who did nothing but stand here and there, talk some, spit out some cliches, miss some arrows and having zero charisma.
Some bad movies have some entertaining value, but it needs some coherence and closure. Miss Peregrine offers neither.

Yeah, that's a real thing in this movie.
All the elements are there, to make it a good movie. Focus on other ethnicities which blended well into the characters and actions, character development, family to make the character grounded, special effects, a larger message, and at times, the right emotions and occasional sacrifice.
Unfortunately, all those get buried under the wrong elements, which are plenty. But first and foremost, the movie, like many other recent so-called superhero movies, tries too hard to be a comedy. Including too many jokes, misplaced jokes, predictable jokes and worst of all......the constant yelling. Other than that, the villain has to be the most boring, one dimensional villainess we got to witness in a loooong time.
With hardly any real connection to the DC cinematic universe, if you care about that, you might wanna skip this one.
