The Survivor (2021)
Moving
As we get farther away from the atrocities at Auschwitz, this movie gives us another perspective. An incredibly sad and hopeless circumstance for this man, yet he continues on.
Anatomy of a Scandal (2022)
Surprisingly good...
I saw some negative reviews before I watched this about it's "predictable" plot, but I enjoyed the twist. The acting was great; especially Sienna Miller and the thought that this kind of scandal could topple an entire government is disturbing. If you were expecting an Emmy award winning show, you won't get that here but it is entertaining nonetheless. I.
Magic City (2012)
Had to watch it again!
I was a huge fan of this show while it was airing but when it popped up as a recommended watch, I just had to. This gem had at least another season or two to go before actual history changed or the plot got stale. The entire cast is superb and a fresher-faced JDM couldn't have been better. Dominik Garcia-Lorido surely made her father proud and a few of her expressions were identical to his from his former epic roles. The glamour, fashion and beauty of Miami wealth was perfect eye candy, while the seedy organized crime, dangerous criminal underbelly and Cuban citizens' struggles were well portrayed. It was and is a terrible shame this series was cancelled and left unresolved.
The Virtuoso (2021)
Oscar material!!!!
Just kidding.....of course it isn't, but it's fun. It seems like every reviewer on here is expecting high caliber films for every one that's released. Anthony Hopkins wasn't in it long enough? So what! He's an octogenarian and an Oscar winner, so he can be in it for exactly how long he wants.
This won't win any awards, surely, but it's not as bad as some of these reviews because.....Anson Mount and the dog.
The Craft: Legacy (2020)
Um....what?
This movie had such potential. The original movie was much darker, sure, but the big battle was throwing some elements around for a minute and that's it? Way too many holes and loose ends with no resolution.
Vikings (2013)
See you in Valhalla....
Well done! A great wrap up and I loved the surprise guests. Picking right up with big battle action and drama from the start and a fine ending for a final season worthy of the sons of Ragnar.
Nurses (2020)
Seriously?
I can't believe how bad this is. Absolutely offensive to the nursing profession-the warriors who are fighting to save lives and usually the only comfort to those whose are ending because of the current global pandemic. Violating confidentiality protocol and trampling boundaries, cloaked as empathy and compassion-ugh! Don't they have nurse/medical consultants while they're developing the script? They should have nurses write a show about creating television series'! They'd rock it AND Heimlich NBC as they choke on crow!
Helstrom (2020)
Entertaining!
I went into this without any expectations, other than to watch a new Hulu original show. I absolutely enjoyed it! Austen hit the right notes as a quiet but effective demon with big range and Lemmon and Uy were great together. If you're expecting total Marvel, you probably won't feel satisfied but it's a fun watch.
Semper Fi (2019)
Surprisingly good
I came across this movie and was just going to watch to kill some time and glad I did! Great story and entertaining throughout.
Modern Love (2019)
So much fun
I loved this series. Not a romance genre fan, but I couldn't resist with the amazing cast. I'm so glad I switched it on! Each episode has a favorite character to root for and a sense of renewed hope that there is love out there. I didn't look up who was going to be in it past the advertisements and was so pleased to see Andy Garcia's adorableness and Andrew Scott's charming neurosis-both were fantastic!
The 15:17 to Paris (2018)
Eastwood can afford a movie like this
Who cares if the main characters aren't actors? I don't think this movie is about how much money it will bring in, but the event that took place and the roles these men played in real life. A lot of people are complaining about the childhood history taking up a lot of this movie but it's important to display how these men developed their character, which is what prompted them to act that day. No, it's not an Emmy winner for best actors, but it's a different kind of movie about a different breed of heroes. I enjoyed this movie for what it was-a tribute to superheroes that don't wear capes.
