The first thought that left me baffled and spoilt the experience of watching this movie, which admittedly i did not bother watching till the end is why in the wide world were the characters speaking in hindi, if they are meant to be a family living in tamil nadu, firmly entrenched in the agragaram community living?
With random tamil words thrown in, for what exactly? Perhaps for good measure
It thoroughly annoyed me. Tamilians especially the tamil iyengars do not speak hindi in their day to day living
If you want to make a hindi language movie, set it in north india, in delhi perhaps
Maybe its just me, but then i always as a matter of principle do not watch movies with an obvious, glaring, jarring issue between language and the native setting of the movie itself
Acting was completely one dimensional as well, with really weird, stilted conversations all around
Just utter balderdash
Could have been a great movie, especially with the idea of this movie
Just a complete let down and its a shame
This is a modern day fairy tale with no fresh spin whatsoever in the story line yet it was a truly enjoyable watch. I watched it on a lonely Christmas day spent away from family and friends, and " A princess for Christmas" somehow managed to get me into the Christmas spirit albeit only for an hour and a half. I watched this movie with no great expectations and at the end of the day it turned out to be a pleasant watch after all. So, if you are willing to disregard all the parameters that you might have in regard to this film, you might turn out to enjoy this light-hearted, holiday spirited movie. After all, who wouldn't want their happily ever after to become a reality right? Merry Christmas everyone!!!!!
The easiest way to review Leelai is this: if you are a romantic person at heart in search of a decent love story that adheres devoutly to the genre of romance with no wanton distractions, this is the movie you have been waiting for. The plot was pretty simple but at least there were no gaping plot holes in it-not as far as I could see. It was very sweet and simple and the leads in the movie- Shiv Pandit and Manashi Parekh were extremely good in bringing forth their emotions considering the fact that they are newcomers in the industry. The movie showcased the lifestyle of the urbanites of modern India and I would have to say that the director avoided being to formulaic while making a valiant effort to make a movie that tilts more towards the realistic side of life with regard to the backdrop of the movie. The songs in the movie? They had superb lyrics impregnated with meaning, if you would care to look for it. All in all, the best thing about this movie is that, it does not pretend to be something it is not. At the beginning it promises to be a light- hearted, romantic plus comedy flick and that is what you get throughout the movie. In my humble opinion, the storyline was well paced since it was neither draggy nor rushed. At the very least, if you decide to enjoy the movie, that is what you should feel and I sure hope you would enjoy it because it has got this air of freshness permeating through it that you would not get in most Tamil movies.
