Napoleon (2023)
Historically lacking and poor acting
Napoleon is a classic example of a Hollywood hatchet job of history. Napoleon's rise to power is almost completely ignored for the sake of doggie style screwing. Phoenix's acting range is slightly better than Samuel L Jackson's, which is a very low bar. The dialogue was simplest and so historically fiction. I really wanted this to show the collapse of the French royalty with an emperor. The definition of a revolution is that you end where began but that is completely ignored the significance of that reality. What a wasted opportunity to have a teachable moment. Humping seems to be to only thing the film is interested in throughout the first half of this mess. Oh well, at least I watched on a flight and didn't waste any real free time.
A Haunting in Venice (2023)
Questionable casting
While the book was a challenging one to make into a movie, the casting of Tina Fey immediately made this an unwatchable mess. She does not have the ability or range to play this role. The direction is muddled and half the acting stiff and inspiring. Kelly Riley's character was under utilized and her performance seemed shallow, most likely at direction. This had such potential based on difficulty of the source material but it fell short of its potential. The bright spots include Branaugh's performance as well as much of the supporting cast but it depended too much on close ups and odd camera angles. This makes it difficult to follow the plot.
Top Gun: Maverick (2022)
A return to entertainment
Hollywood (Disney) take note if you want to make money. A good story without an agenda equals escapism. That's what we are all looking for. Maverick is the perfect balance of old versus new without overdoing if and without a social agenda. Thanks.
Don't Look Up (2021)
Completely misleading
I thought this movie was about not looking up in case one of Leo's private jets were flying over. I was So disappointed when it was just another shy is falling movie.
No Time to Die (2021)
Not a Bond movie
This was a better than average action movie with little connection to the Bond series. The supporting character, M,Q, Moneypenny etc we're afterthoughts and completely unnecessary in this movie. The new 007's part went from harass to, "Oh, you can have your old number back". The villain was an underdeveloped character and Bonds death is a head scratcher. The franchise seems to be done and it ended with a movie that left the Bond story in the past before it started. Oh well, all things must come to an end.
Cinderella (2021)
Take destroyed.
Reimagining is one thing, rewriting is completely different. They should have just written a new story.
Justice League (2017)
A mess
The storyline is just a complete train wreck and the fight scenes are just so poorly done, it's unwatchable.
Space Jam: A New Legacy (2021)
What a mess
Please stop remaking movies and stop using athletes who are barely functioning humans.
The Rookie (2018)
Season 3 is a mess
This series started off strong but the writers of season 3 seems to want shove every PC issue into every episode. There's just too much baggage to make you care about any of it.
Wonder Woman 1984 (2020)
Shockingly bad
A high budget train wreck. DC hits a new low with this mess.
Mulan (2020)
Dosed off
Truly one of the slowest and most uninteresting movies I've seen since Clooney's The American. Struggled to stay awake.
On the Basis of Sex (2018)
Beautiful piece of fiction
Wow, this was just a whitewash legacy piece for a woman who is an average justice.
