Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes (2024)
Disappointment
I found the movie kind of boring. We just watched the previous episodes before, and they were exciting, well made, my wife kept crying on them. Compared to the Ceasar trilogy, this new Kingdom was not just boring, but also the CGI was lacking. And because of that it was very hard to relate to the characters or the story. I don't know what else I could add to my review but I still have 209 characters left to write. Now it is just 164. Oh look, only 145. Go watch the Ceasar trilogy, they are a lot better than this movie. 73 characters left. I did not like the new story arc either. Hard to believe, minimum character limit met. Bye.
The Acolyte: Destiny (2024)
So badly written it is hard to find words
After getting terrified by the trailers and the promo materials I like to admit I kinda enjoyed the first two episodes. My two concerns were just the easy kill of a Jedi Master and the Chinese king fu movies-style fights.
But man this 3rd episode...this was one of the worst Star Wars related things I have ever seen since the Holiday Special. And not because of the LGBTQ plot, but how badly it was written, how badly it was executed! This episode was a mess! When an actor cannot perform a role well, that is not necessarily the actor's fault. It is mostly because the script is bad and also the director has no idea what it is doing! The director and the writer have to explain their vision for the actors in a way, the actors can feel it as well. But in this case, there was no human on Earth who could explain this pile of mess of a story. I really hope with epsiode 4 we can forget this episode and get back on track. But I am afraid there will be no redemption after this.
Rebel Moon - Part Two: The Scargiver (2024)
Movie is so bad they should teach it in universities
So badly written, so badly executed, so badly directed, so full of B category lame clichés that it is very hard to process. Hours and hours of analization would be necessary to figure out how could so many people, producers managers and CEOs let this garbage to go through and spent so much money on and advertised as something revolutionary, when it is nothing more, than a Readers Digest quality nonsense. Upon all that, even the CGI is terrible, the camera is out of focus more, than in an amateur video made on a birthday party. The story has nothing to get attached to. The characters were put together from stories we've seen million times already. Actors are very poorly directed, therefore their acting is unratable. Everything is so bad, that you would think they will at least nail something based on luck, but no, even the music is lame and mostly based on Gladiator. Absolute garbage.
Lift (2024)
Typical
This movie was simply boring. Full of clichès, bad acting, lame jokes, uninteresting plot, silly technical mumbojumbos, no good fights, no good stunts. Nothing we haven't seen million times before. It was absolutely unnecessary. I don't really understand what was the point making this movie. Netflix is sittinf on the same train that Disney is on. Making B category tv movies. And I mean like Fast and Furious quality ones. Close to Reader's Digest. Feels like someone forced Kevin Hart to do this movie. I hope at least the film crew had fun doing the movie, at least they had jobs during the strike.
Rebel Moon - Part One: A Child of Fire (2023)
What is this mess?
Poor Zackie. He either forgot how to direct or he never could I am not sure anymore. This movie is among the worst movies I have ever seen. The cast is bad. The directing is really bad. I know from a director friend of mine that it is always the directors fault if an actor cannot deliver a dialogue or feel comfortable in its role. So bad acting is on Zack. The bad CGI tho. I don't know who's fault is that, but the spaceships and the wide shots are looking horrible in this movie. Like some cutscenes from a 1990's videogame. Writing is also Zack, so all these clichés and copies from the original Star Wars and Warhammer are lame. Cringe. Turok...sorry, I mean Tarak the last Mohican's flight on that giant black bird reminded me of the Neverending Story's dragon flight. And that movie was made in 1984. Simply bad, man. I cannot say anything that is positive. With all these boring and lame slow motions...without it would be 60mins long not 120. Absolutely amateur. Like a cheap lame TV movie. Maybe worst.
The Killer (2023)
As exciting as riding an elevator!
Someone already wrote this before me: as exciting as riding an elevator. And I find it amazing. Because EXACTLY what this movie is. A just an ordinary, boring ride, in an elevator. You get in. This is your first ride with this elevator. You don't know this elevator. Anything can happen. What if it's old and not well maintained? What if you stuck in? You check for the escape routes. The door on the elevator's top. The alarm button. It is missing. Someone must been like it at took it. It might have been that red one with the bell engraved in it. Now it is missing so you cannot press it. Would it electricute me if I put my finger in trying to press some kind of switch? I hope I don't have to try it. Will there be enough air inside? I'm pretty sure it is not airthight. Why would they make an airthight elevator. I might can for to open tha door anyway. Why do elevators always smell funny? Like it keeps all the smells of everyone got into them. I'm pretty sure I can smell a parfume of a woman, the smell of different cigarettes and some dirt smell mixed up with the rubber floor, faux woodden wall and oily mechanism of the elevator. Ding, ground floor, door is opening, nothing happened.
Just like in this movie. After Fight Club and Se7en, this is what we got. A ride in the elevator.
The Creator (2023)
I totally understand why Disney did not want a Star Wars movie made of this story
The story is lacking big time. Full of clichés, most of the time it is simply boring, the rest of the time it is something we have already seen. Colonel Howell is Colonel Miles from Avatar. The army's plot is Avatar. The soldier's look is Star Wars. The robot's look is No Man's Sky (video game). Almost exactly copied, which I find kinda lame. It has many flaws. Like the sims cannot turn off a simple switch, but they are living with loads of humans...I mean, come on...
The look of the movie is AMAZING! I really hope this will be the new trend, where we see real, dirty, dodgie, absolutely believable sci-fi movies. It was like a live action anime. Just the story...that was really felt like Gareth Edwards could not do anything with it. How to build it up and especially how to close it. It seems like he focused more on the look and the design than on the story. Let's hope they will give him another chance!
Reptile (2023)
A Really Good Cop Movie
This movie gave me back some good old 90's vibes. No CGI, no huge effect, just the actors and the story. The story build-up was good, suspenseful all they way through and man Benicio Del Toro is amazing. If you are around your 40's you can even smell this movie. I don't think I've seen such a depressing and gloomy cop movie in the recent years.
Now for those who complain about that it is slow, and they were yawning I have request if I may: please just go watch your Marvel and green screen movies and leave us grown ups alone with our depressed good oldschool storytellings, okay? I would really appreciate it, thank you!
I hope moviemakers and directors will not give up keep making movies like these. As long as they don't, there is still hope!
Foundation: The Sighted and the Seen (2023)
It became bad
Are the books the same lame as this TV Series? The TV Show is a huge cringe. Actors are mostly bad; I really can't stand Ella-Rae Smith's acting. Overconfident, overacting, with absolutely amateur performance. Even her walking is tremendously overthought. Way too much. Annoying. The story is okay, that is why I gave 5 stars, but the whole show is getting harder and harder to watch and much harder to enjoy. I am not sure why everything is such a low quality these days, but I really miss the 90's where everyone was experimenting and when absolutely masterpieces were born. These days everything feels like under the bare minimum.
From: Ball of Magic Fire (2023)
Boooooriiiing
I am getting really annoyed by the unnecessary long and utterly boring conversations and the very bad acting on many sides in this show. Also the bad writing. People leave people alone when it was specifically said dont, keeping secrets in front of eachother instead of sharing and trying to get out if this together they are working against eachother. Totally illogical and unreal. Sara's and the deputy sheriff's character are done, ran out of ideas, they are just there to fill up space. I am watching it because I dont want my time that i put into this go wasted but i was fastforwarded the Sara scenes in this completely and I am absolutely sure i did not miss anything. Absolute waste of time right now, if you would just start it now, dont.
Scream (2022)
Sweating trying sooo hard horrible writing
Seriously who wrote this really went into this requel bullcrap? No one adviced them this is stupid? With the Benetton commercial cast? This is so bad it is almost unwatchable. We just watched all the originals so we can recap and watch this so the difference and the much worst quality is so obvious that if there is someone who didnt feel bad and cringe and pain and smell of the nose churning sweat of the writers that tried to be cool and funny and smart but all they ended up with this garbage. There is 102 caracters I should wrote now its just 51 by the I wrote this it is 22 amd now it is just enough. What a bad writing and directing. Shame.
Star Trek: Picard: The Last Generation (2023)
Thank you
Guys, this is what fanservice is about. You made a new standard with Picard Season 3.
I would first like to thank you for the past 36 years.
This show started slow, had its ups and downs but this final season was put so well together, it was pure nostalgia, tears, memories and love for these characters. I really hope everyone will learn from this and this will be the example for everyone from now on (do you hear me LucasFilm/Disney?!).
Also I would like to add, that the 3rd season wouldn't work without the first two seasons. Like it or not, but they all made it a beautiful whole that ended up so good. It really made the whole 36 years experience with the 7 seasons of NextGen, all the movies and finally Picard.
Patrick Stewart, Jonathan Frakes, Michael Dorn, Marina Sirtis, Gates McFadden, Brent Spiner, LeVar Burton.
Thank you. Godspeed.
Avatar: The Way of Water (2022)
Bro, why bro? Totally unnecessary bro
This is a 3 hours long CGI tech demo. Nothing more. The story is the typical bullthis USA hurrah. We've seen this 1million+1 times already. Why put it into 3 hours? It should be 90mins. It doesnt explains anything doesnt solve anything doesnt show anything. Yes it is looking really good. But that is not 100% either. Sometimes facial expressions are not working, they are cartoonish and weird, not natural, sometimes you forget you are watching CGI. I don't understand the high rating (7.8 now) at all. It is mediocre at it's best. And the plot suggests the next episode won't be anyway better either. Pointless.
Star Trek: Picard: The Bounty (2023)
This is PERFECT
Man, I don't even know where to start. This TV Series is perfect. The story is amazing, the cast, oh dear, I am tearing. I am wiping my eyes and I am thinking, how would I be able to watch any more Star Trek stories after this? How could anyone top this? Do I care what is after this? This is what I needed, this is what I needed, this is what Star Wars would need, this is what Marvel would need this is what Game of Thrones or Lord of the Rings need. I will watch this story for over and over again. This almost 40 years old Next Generation is the New Generation. I am thrilled and also sad to see how this superb story will conclude.
Star Trek: Picard: No Win Scenario (2023)
Perfect
This episode is perfect in many ways. The story, the arc, the back story, the future and also because there was not one second of Raffi in it. Thank the makers. I really wish the whole season, much better, all the seasons would have been like this one single episode. Very well built, greatly executed and delivered with some really great acting, writing and directing. I don't know what else could write without spoilering anything. When I am watching this season, I feel that it is a brand new series. An individual story that is totally free from the previous two seasons. Not even comparable in my opinion. I am really enjoying it and I hope you do as well. Disney: watch and learn.
Knock at the Cabin (2023)
Great plot but bad story and a really bad movie
The basic problem of the story is really interesting. What would you do if you have these visions and how would you try to explain and convince the poor chosen ones that they have to do what they have to do?
I haven't read the book, I don't know how much of the book's story was used. But the story in the movie around the problem was really flat and bad. Also it has unnecessary annoying add-ons. Like the weapons. Why do they have to look like this? Why the first guy that had to be sacrificied after the first "no" had to have a weapon? He won't kill anyone, he does not need it at all. Poor guy had to make it and carry it around for nothing. What was the point about that the same guy attacked one of them in a bar years before? There was nothing done with it. They did not use this as a plot twist, they just showed it to us and that's it. Nothing. It did not change anything it did not add anything to the story. If they would at least show that all four of them had an impact on their life before, like the guy attack him in the bar so he bought a gun and made him paranoid, the bartender who saved his life and tend his wounds until the ambulance arrives could have been Leonard, the nurse who is assisting on the lip fixing surgery of the little girl could be Sabrina. Or something. This would give us a plot twist of some sort, that those 4 had the impact on their life in a way they ended up where they are now. I understand it would then make it very similar to the Signs movie, but hey that movie was good and this one was not.
The Gray Man (2022)
Not a good movie
I don't know if it is the directing or the cinematography or both but something is very wrong with this movie. The cuts the angles the setups are high school grade. Like it is made by someone who have never made a movie before. Very unexpected of a team loke the Russo Brothers and the cinematographer who had very good action filled movie before.
Jurassic World: Dominion (2022)
It is bad. Really bad.
Oh my, where shall I start? Bad acting. Bad script. Even worst directing. Lame boring clichè plots, illogical acts, childish conversations. The girl Maisie? I know she is not an actress, but still. I don't think I've seen worst acting in a blockbuster movie. Bryce Dallas Howard is a worst actress than a director. If that is possible. This movie is the perfect example how bad things are in Hollywood. When there is money and everything you could want but you lack talent on every level.
Thor: Love and Thunder (2022)
Too sily, feels like it's own parody
Movie is okay. Christian Bale is awesome, Chris still can't act, but we never liked him for his talent, rest of the cast brings what they have to the whole movie is an average Disney factory work, everyone knows their job and they execute is as they should. The story has too many silly jokes. I know Waititi's style, but now he feels like his own parody. Like those Scream parody Scary Movies.
Ms. Marvel (2022)
Cringe lvl1000
Oh dude the cringe level of this one is waaaay above bearable. Her facial expressions are between a bad Jim Carrey on a very bad day and Hailee Steinfeld when she thinks she is a good actress but actually she is very far from that. Horrible. I kinda understand it was made for 8-10 years olds but are they really this dumb? Does her character and this acting really relatable for anyone? These forced lame jokes and arabic clichès are really not offending anyone? I am not middle-eastern but even I feel bad watching it.
Stranger Things: Chapter Five: The Nina Project (2022)
Getting really boring
Episodes are too long the plot hasnt changed since season 1, characters are stuck and not evolving. They have this idealized 80's version in their heads but it feels like most of the creators were not alive in the 80's.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022)
Eeeeeh okay
Not bad, not good, could be worse but vould have been better. It has some major flaws, unfinished orevious stories still left unfinished, 6 points would feel too low 7 points feel too high bit since I cannot givve half points and I actually enjoyed the movie lets stay on 7 and here is for the hope to the next one will be better! Cheers!
Moonfall (2022)
OMG
This was the biggest stupid thing I have seen in my life. Simple bad. Nonsense. Stupid. And Roland Emmerich? Why? Why?? So much wasted money and time. For this.
The Book of Boba Fett: Chapter 5: Return of the Mandalorian (2022)
Dear Favreau and Filoni
Look at the ratings, read the reviews and rethink your approach please to Star Wars. You made a huge mistake with Boba Fett that you cannot take back ever again. It is sad but hopefully you will learn and you won't make this mistake ever again.
Eternals (2021)
Very very bad
5000BC people wore t-shirts? Who did the costume on this show should never be in the movie business again. Also 600BC the 'Gods' speak with british accent? Also very bad acting which shows how bad of a director Chloe Zhao is. This movie is a huge waste of money and time.
