I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry (2007)
Some funny but mostly cringe
Decided to rewatch this movie I saw many years ago because I remember it being funny. While I will admit it did have some funny moments (the Asian minister being very funny) it overall was a complete mess. The messaging was ridiculous. By the end they are like it doesn't matter if your pansexual, gay, straight, asexual etc (probably one of the dumbest scenes in all adam sandler movies). Plus the gay community loves them after the rouse is up at the end yet in real life they would probably burn down their houses and would be condemning them for the rest of their lives. It's like they made this movie because they so badly wanted to be accepted by the gay community that they threw the most ridiculous praise it comes off as insufferable. In the end, I think this movie would angry both straight and gay people equally which makes the movie not worth watching. Overall, it's one of adam sandlers lower tier movies (not the absolute worst like spanglish or Zohan but not much above it). Stick with the classics like big daddy and mr deeds. Don't recommend it unless you're curious how cringe it really is or love bad film making.
365 dni (2020)
absolute garbage
Please dont waste your time watching this trash. Zero plot, awful characters and stupid idea. Nothing but nudity and terrible lines. Whoever made this should not make anymore movies.
The Matrix Resurrections (2021)
should have never been made.
A terrible movie. Watched the original triology before this for the first time (an amazing experience). However, this movie is very bad. Extremely lazy script, crappy new characters, and nonexisting plot. Do yourself a favor and completely skip this movie and watch the original triology instead.
Groundhog Day (1993)
a movie you can truely watch over and over
Not much more can be said about groundhog day than what already been written in previous reviews, except its a must watch. Bill murray plays probably his best role of his entire career with a memorable role as phil. The days keep repeating, but the laughs and silliness got better and better as the movie moves along. One of those movies that not only entertains, but also makes you look at life in a different perspective to grow on. Hard to say a favorite moment because the entire movie is filled with great scenes. Definite recommend!
Joe Dirt (2001)
hilarious movie throughout
Joe dirt is probably one of my favorite comedies of all time. The movie has tons of quoteable lines and memorable moments. The story is a guy named joe dirt has gone on ambitious quest to find his long lost parents however, crazy misadventures happen along the way. The main character is just impossible to hate with his optimistic attitude and ability to make friends with everyone (including those he really should have stayed away from haha). Hes in some ways comparable to forrest gump, but with more cunning ways of getting put of his missteps along the way. Probably one of david spades best movies be ever made. Not exactly a movie to show to younger children, but if theyre teen and up a definite recommed watch you'll never forget.
Sideways (2004)
this won awards?
When looking at this movie, i cant believe it won mulitple awards. One thing i didnt like about this movie was the characters are jerks and unlikable. The main story is that a guy decides his life is boring so he decides to go traveling with his best friend to go wine tasting? This movie basically has zero plot other than they meet people that are also strange and random situations happen around them. Just an unpleasant watching experience all around (only could last about 30 minites of this). Dont waste your time.
Larry Crowne (2011)
worst tom hanks movie
I remeber looking at the clips years ago and thinking this was going to be a good movie (i was wrong). What i got was crappy story, bad characters and overall lousy movie. The main character is a middle age man who is going back to school for some purpose in life. Falling in love with the teacher? Dumb idea. A shame because tom hanks is one of my favorite actors but couldnt make it through this one. Not worth your time unless you need to watch how bad a movie can get.
Summer School (1987)
great underrated 80s movie
This movie is awesome. A coach is stuck teaching a bunch of misfits for the summer, which leads to hilarious mishaps and laughs. One thing i liked was that it showed the kids were much more to them than apperance showed. My favorite characters were probably the music+movie obsessed guys (alot of ways remind me of myself) and the sleeping guy because he was funny. It brings back nostalgia somewhat for my high school years when things were simpler. Mostly lesser known actors but also makes it more enjoyable. A-
Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (2010)
waste of time
Heard about this movie for a long time so i decided to check it out a few years ago. Needless to say its terrible. The main character is a complete joke who isnt very convincing that hes awesome. Lots of cringeworthy dialouge and action was really off putting to watch. It got too repetative and didnt really make any sense. Ill be honest and say the girl he was chasing after wasnt worth it haha.
Role Models (2008)
massive disappointment
I heard about this movie for years and thought it was going to be fun, i was wrong. I didnt laugh once at any of the jokes, the storyline was dull, characters were stupid. A shame being that some of the actors have made good movies but this wasnt one of them. They somehow managed to make the guy who played mclovin from superbad completely unlikeable. I usually love these dumb comedies but it just didnt work here.
Santa and the Ice Cream Bunny (1972)
what is santa doing?
Granted this is a so called b movie (even though the term movie is very questionable for this one). However, even on a more generous grading scale, this movie overwhelmingly fails big time. Most of the movie isnt even about santa and is another movie that he tells to people as a story. The cinematography is awful with zero direction or and script involved. The story with the movie is basically an amatuerish play of an old fairy tale with terrible acting. Even with rifftrax/mystery science theater 3000 this movie isnt salvable and should be avoided at all cost. Youve been warned!
Good Luck Chuck (2007)
rauncy but crazy hilarious
This was a movie i remebered being advertised at the time but never got around to watching it until about 2 years ago and i can honestly say that i loved it. The plot is a little ridicuolus but its also insanely funny. A guy was supposedly hexed as a kid thus has trouble finding woman to stay with him. Jessica alba is great in this and every actor was enjoyable. Its probably one of the more raunchy movies out there but if you can handle that youll love the movie. I can understand that its not a movie for everyone but i highly recommend checking this out.
The Searchers (1956)
a journey through the troubles of a loneman
The searchers is probably one of the best westerns of all time. Not a single moment is wasted in this epic and big movie. John wayne probably played of his best role of his entire career in this (a true robbery not even being nominated for an oscars for this). In it is a journey and search for a long lost relative thats been kinapped by natives for years. You get to see some incredible scenery and breathtaking lands as the heros do their best to succeed in their quest. Even the supporting cast was great in it with almost every character giving a memorable performance. It was said that many filmakers and directors were inspired by this movie and its easy to see why with how great it is. Granted i was born about 40+ after this movie was released, but even i thought it was blown away just how great it was. Even if youre not a western fan youll most likeky love this movie.
All Quiet on the Western Front (1930)
one of the best war films
All quiet on the western front is truely one of the best war films of all time. I remeber watching this back in freshman history class and finding it to be very good. The story is a sad one with boys going off to war during ww1 and realizing the horrors that war brings. Doesnt sugar coat war, shows all its aspects with tactics, logistics, injuries, weapons, personal lives, and even the hardship of the group. All my respect goes out to the people that served during ww1 (even those that never made it back). You shall never be forgotten!
The Cabin in the Woods (2011)
great horror and funny too
Just rewatched this movie after having not seeing it in about 10 years and it was just as good as i remebered it. It starts off as a typical horror movie, however it subverts your expectations and leads to rewarding twists throughout. The best character was the stoner named marty, who was hilarious with his wisecracks and pointing out the corniness of the situations. Read that the movie was delayed for release about 2 years before it finally got one and amazingly became a cult classic since. A perfect halloween movie or any time of the year.
Thinner (1996)
creepy and enjoyable
One of stephen kings lesser talked about movies, which is better than expected. A crooked lawyer ends up killing a gypsy's relative, who then puts a spell on him causing him to as the title says get thinner. The effects i thought were very well done and the acting is decent. Overall a good movie if you can realize how absurd it is and dont take things too seriously.
Deadfall (1993)
dreadful garbage
Probably in the top 5 worst nicholas cage movies he ever made. I remeber seeing it on late night years ago. The acting is atrocious and cringeworthy with no redemable qualities whatsoever. Theres basically zero plot and even the Cinematography is awful. Couldnt make it past 30 minutes. If you think youve seen nicholas cage at his worst, watch this and see if you can survive through the whole thing (not me).
Dance of the Dead (2008)
hilariously fun ride
One of my favorite zombie movies. I remeber coming across this at random really late one night on one of the movie channels years ago. Its thrilling, funny, and a great adventure of killing zombies. Best way to describe it is john hughes meets dawn of the dead. I liked that the characters dont play the typical zombie tropes and even point out the sillyness of it (metal music stops the zombies haha). While it is low budget, it makes up for ithaving an extremly likable cast (cant remeber hating a single character). Definite recommend.
Jeepers Creepers 2 (2003)
a thrilling adventure
Jeepers creepers 2 is a blast! One of the very few sequels that i liked better the original (which i didnt care for). We see more suspense and horror as the monster goes after a bunch of high school kids. Youll be one the edge of your seat as we wonder if good will win in the end. Give it a watch!
Fast Times at Ridgemont High (1982)
how is this getting high reviews?
A so called classic that i didnt find very good. People say its very funny, but didnt find it very amusing minus the surfer dude. The plot is almost non existant and wooden acting. Much better 80s movies out there (weird science, sixteen candles).
A Christmas Story (1983)
all time favorite chritmas film
A christmas story is my all time favorite christmas movie. Nostalgic, heartwarming, hilarious, and sentimential. Its a movie i can never get tired of watching no matter how many times i watch it. If you havent seen it yet highly recommend checking it out.
The Island (2005)
terrible film
The island is probably in my top 5 worst movies of all time. One of the very few movies were i had no liking for any of the characters or cared what happened to them. A shame because the movie has some really good actors including ewan mcgregor and steve buschemi. Sadly, even they cant save this movie. I recently read that it was a ripoff of a previous movie from the 70s, which had the exact same premise. No wonder why i cut it off after about 40 minutes. Please avoid this movie and watch any other action flick out there (yes even the transformers movies are better than this monstrosity).
The Shawshank Redemption (1994)
an inspiration for all those in need
Not much more can be said that already has been said about how truely a good movie shawshank is. Morgan freeman really elevates the film to almost masterpiece status with his characters insight and voice. The movie can in many ways, be seen as an allegory of never giving up for a better future even with horrible circumstances that come in life. An absolute must see!
Forrest Gump (1994)
an incredible journey through america
All i can say is this movie is truely amazing. An uplifting and somewhat inspiring movie of a man who with some mental deficiencies has probably one of the best lives ever. Forrest Takes the viewer through a journey of the second half of the 20th century with lots of humor and bit misunderstandings (apple being some fruit company haha). Its a movie that be shown to everyone as a way not only for historical purposes, but understanding the ethos of what makes america a great place to be in.
