The Leftovers (2014)
Only for first season, But is incredible!
I started watching this series because I was bored. I had no expectations and didn't even know what it was about. After a couple of episodes, I found myself wondering, "What is this?" I read some reviews, many of which were quite negative, but I kept watching.
My conclusion is that, yes, it's slow-paced and not for everyone, but this is a masterpiece. It's incredibly deep, the acting is excellent, the cast is perfect, and it's simply amazing. I felt compelled to write something after just the first season because I'm stunned. It's impossible not to think about everything I've seen, especially after that final episode.
Some reviews mention that seasons 2 and 3 are completely different, and I'm excited about what's to come. However, I know that if I keep watching, I won't be able to focus on anything else, so I need to take a break.
If you enjoy complex plots that require attention and make you think critically about the world and humanity, this series is for you. But if you're looking for something light, this series isn't meant for you.
I probably will come back after season 2 and 3 and update my review , but for now for me this is a solid 10.
The Regime (2024)
Brillant
This was just a ride, it is a great way to represent the tragedy of corrupt systems all around the world, the neverending story of the regimes that only are there for their own interests and are able to manipulate the majority of uneducated people.
I am not sure why the rating is so low, but I think is because people did not understand or maybe they don't like satires other than that I don't know why someone would rate this masterpiece with less than and 8, the acting is great, of course Kate Winslet is incredible but really all the acting is fabulous, the pace sometimes can be a little slow, but for me is part of the charm.
Anyway for me was great, maybe is because I am from oneof those third world country condem to these darn regimes.
The Two Popes (2019)
A total surprise for me
What a great movie, the acting and the script are so good that I felt connected all the time.
Is not the type of movie I would see , as a former catholic and now a very agnostic person this was truly a very pleasant surprise. I loved the way they presented also the hard moments for both popes, specially the part of the story related with Argentina dictatorship.
I would recommend anyone to see this movie , it is a nice point of view between dogmatism and progress; even though there is a lot to do to achieve humanity progress, I think is a nice start for a relegion leader to at least acknowledge that the world needs something else at the moment.
The Mother (2023)
Just an action movie
It's a nice action movie, again I think all the hate is because is a woman and this woman is Jennifer Lopez and people just love to hate powerful women.
Is not a great movie, again is just entertainment, but I do think Jennifer Lopez did a great job and was good acting. The movie might have been a little long for my taste but I liked it.
If you are looking to just see an action movie to past the time, this is ok, there will be car chase, guns, blood, dead and some suspense, if you don't mind the main character is a women it will be fine, so give it a chance with the right expectations is not a great work of art.
