*The Lantern Man* is a captivating short film that draws you in despite its brief runtime. In just a few minutes, it crafts a powerful narrative filled with mystery and suspense. The pacing is perfectly executed, maintaining an engaging rhythm from start to finish. The cast is exceptional, with each actor bringing layers of depth to their character, making the film feel both intimate and immersive. The eerie atmosphere adds to the tension, enhancing the overall impact. Even though it's a short, *The Lantern Man* leaves a lasting impression, proving that you don't need a long runtime to tell a compelling, memorable story.
Enigmatic and powerful. Beautifully crafted and deftly brought to the screen, The Lantern Man shines from the darkness as it brings to life the themes of personal struggles. Direction, cinematography and editing were compelling as I found myself immersed and visually tricked by where I was and how the protagonist was moving throughout the scene. Showing signs of cinematic genius I look forward to further work by this team and how this film could even be made into a feature. Tim Cullingworth-Hudson is brilliant as the lead and writing and direction by Cullingworth-Hudson and Jon Kent is riveting. 10 out of 10!
The Lantern Man is a great short. Tense and dark. Whilst the acting was really good, you could see everyone involved in the production had a great day in the office. A lot of potential with an interesting back story. I hope to see a feature length in the near future. It was dark in the true sense of a classic British horror but still had the grit of a psychological thriller to it. The cinematography, and storyline was top and given this appears to be a low budget film from what it appears, it does just make you wonder what teams like this would be capable of with bigger budgets, because the overall quality of delivery on this is very high. There really isn't much between this and some of the stuff out there on Netflix and other platforms. The acting was great, energetic and emotional where it needed to be, and yet controlled and and decisive when right to be so to. I will continue to follow the journey of these guys as I see so much more on the horizon for them in the future if they continue to produce substance of this standard. These types of films are what make less established film makers and actors so exciting to track. I really do expect more on the horizon.
"The Lantern Man" is a masterful short film that encapsulates the essence of English folklore within its brief runtime. Directors Tim Cullingworth-Hudson and Jon Kent have crafted a chilling narrative that transports viewers to the desolate marshes, where the enigmatic Lantern Man lurks.
The film's atmosphere is palpable, with haunting visuals and a suspenseful score that linger long after the credits roll. The performances, particularly by Nigel Betts and Tim Cullingworth-Hudson, are compelling and add depth to this eerie tale.
"The Lantern Man" is a testament to the power of storytelling, proving that even in just five minutes, a film can leave an indelible mark. A must-watch for fans of folklore and suspense.

The atmospheric short film "Lantern Man" masterfully blends elements of folklore and psychological horror to create an unsettling yet captivating viewing experience. Drawing inspiration from traditional ghost stories about mysterious lights that lead traveler's astray, the film uses its brief runtime to maximum effect, building tension through minimal dialogue and expert use of shadow and light.
The lead performance is notably restrained, conveying fear and fascination through subtle facial expressions and body language rather than obvious horror-movie tropes. This understated approach makes the character's journey more believable and allows viewers to project their own fears onto the unfolding events.
Where the film truly excels is in its ambiguity. It never fully reveals whether the Lantern Man is a supernatural entity, a manifestation of the protagonist's psychological state, or something else entirely. This ambiguity extends to the ending, which leaves viewers with questions that linger long after the credits roll.
"Lantern Man" demonstrates how short-form cinema can deliver a complete and affecting experience through careful attention to atmosphere and visual storytelling. It's a remarkable achievement in minimalist horror that proves sometimes the most effective scares come not from what is shown, but from what remains in shadow.
Great watch!
