First off, you should know this is not a documentary on Stevie's life and career, this is a documentary on the making of her last solo album, the brilliant "In Your Dreams."
The movie gives great insight into Stevie's "inner world" by allowing us access to her private plane, backstage footage, inside her enormous house in the hills of Los Angeles, and a ton of footage of recording and writing sessions. While all this is a fans dream come to true, a casual fan may not be so blown away with nearly 2 hours of film dedicated to an album they may not have heard.
It's poignant, funny, and often times moving. Stevie spends a great deal of time addressing Hurricane Katrina (she wrong a song called "New Orleans") and the soldiers in Iraq (see "Soldier's Angel") - while not being in the slightest bit political or condemning to the Bush administration.
I originally saw this in theaters when it was released on April 2 but now owning it myself I was able to sit in the comfort of my home and watch it without 300 other fans screaming, crying, and dancing around.
This movie is a MUST SEE for any Nicks fan!
