Unfortunately, offensive innuendo embedded in otherwise addictive show

I recently stumbled across this series on Netflix, and my 7 and 4 year old love it. While the acting is predictably bad, the "Psycho Squirrel" show within a show is violent, and the writing is poor, my kids loved the show about teenagers who both produce a web based cartoon and have cartoon based super powers.

I generally appreciate shows that include humor specifically for adults, especially when it is cleverly done and goes over kids heads. But this show has gone waaaaaaaay too far. There is a character on the show named "Free Hugs", who is written as a sort of over the top spoof of a sensitive 70's swinger of indeterminate sexual orientation. That however is not the problem. They give this character lines to say that go far beyond what could even be considered marginally appropriate and veers into purely offensive. Two examples: In a show where the Team is searching the school for a girls lost hamster, Free Hugs advises the team "Hamsters are nocturnal, so you should probably look where the sun don't shine."; In another episode, the team is looking for the human skeleton from the biology classroom that has gone missing, upon consulting Free Hugs he says "Well I did see some bones in the boys locker room earlier, you might want to look there". Adolescent humor is one thing. But this show is rated Y7... somehow. Although my children obviously did not pick up on either of these references, they also will not be watching the show anymore. Too bad.

Good for a tired mind at 3am

Imagine this. Its 3am, rainy outside, you're scrolling through Netflix for a good show to binge until you pass out from drowsiness. You see a kids show called team toon. You're like "it can't be that bad." And you love it. 10/10 would recommend for tired minds at 3am

    Team Toon

My son (3) has a new favorite show twice a week or so. His sister (8) introduced him to "Team Toon" not long ago. We all know it's pointless to resist at least inadvertently checking out our kids favorite shows, here's what I have experienced with "Team Toon"

A group of kids write, illustrate and publish their own online cartoon titled (psycho squirrel). Now the characters they draw manifest in reality. Using their own created superpowers they "bag n tag" evidence and use outrageous solve a case every episode. Personally this has been one of my favorites, from the retro title sequence (catchy tune) to the over the top characters blending live action with "lo-fi" animation. Villains are memorable. It's fairly believable that my son actually see's the world this way sometimes. Story is easy to follow for a 3 year old yet interesting enough for an 8 year old. Overall I recommend this one. (I don't have a thumbs up icon)
