You perhaps wouldn't expect much good from a web-series. After all, it sounds like a cheaply made thing, with B-grade actors and a not too talented or professional crew involved. But it's ridicules to think like that really. Some actors and film-makers just haven't been discovered yet and therefore get themselves involved with a project such as this, to showcase their talents and to put it to practice, while also learning and developing themselves, in the process of all of it.
So really, the fact that this is a web-series really says very little about its quality. And really, the quality of this series is quite good! This goes for about every department; acting, writing, cinematography, editing, music, etcetera. It's a really professionally done and tight looking series!
It's being foremost a comedy-series but it's not being the type of comedy that forcefully tries to make you laugh. There aren't too many crazy situations in the series and things are mostly being kept real. The comedy is more there to keep things light, while the story itself constantly has plenty of drama going on in it as well.
Every character has their own thing(s) going on and as often is being the case with series, it also deals with some social issues. I however do feel that it works out better in this series, than in most other comedy orientated ones. I believe that this is all because of its characters, who all differ and are distinctive enough from each other but above all; everybody is likable in this, which is a real accomplishment for a series of which every episode is only about 11 minutes short.
Despite the short running time of each episode, it constantly manages to keep you engaged with its different story lines and characters. You besides feel that you really get to know the characters, even while the series obviously doesn't spend an awful lot of time with them.
The series also does a good job at focusing on all different characters equally. There aren't really being one or two main characters in this but rather more like seven of them. It sound too much but trust me when I say that it never gets too much. It's probably also because this is such a fast paced series and all of the episodes are being kept rather short. It never feels as if the series dwells too long on anything or stays too long with just one character.
But it's of course also really thanks to its actors that all of the characters work out so well. I honestly can't think of a bad performance in the entire series and everybody seems to be perfectly cast for their roles. It might be due to it that their roles probably got written specifically just for them, which seemed to be the case for me.
It's not like I'm entirely love with this series. After all, a 11 minutes short episode can only get so good and deep with everything and things are a bit simplistic at times but I still do feel that that they cleverly avoided most clichés and genre trappings, which helped to lift this above the standard and average level. It never gets annoying or bad, not even with any of its comedy, which is hard to write and act out, especially when you aren't all that experienced in the business yet.
Overall it's being a good and involving- but above all things also enjoyable series, that is worth checking out!
