Feel good factor movie. Award winning performances by Vijayaraghavan, KPAC Leela. Super performance by Basil and Vineeth.
Ganesh Raj made life a celebration movie, though serious life realities are handled wonderfully. Laughed a lot with so many humerous situations and sat glued until the end with turn of events which are knitted well.
Humer, excitement, suspense, realities and handling such a story of 90+ is not common in infian cinemas. But Ganesh gave full justice to the story line, ditection and beautiful photography. One of the rare such movies ever watched.
Hats off to the Team Pookkalam!

Hats off to the Team Pookkalam!
Pookkalam is a movie that is all about the intricate relationships and bonds within a family. It has very beautifully portrayed old age love, through the role of Ittoop and Ichaama played by Vijayaraghavan and KPAC Leela. The make up Ronex Xavier demands special recognition, without which the characters wouldn't have been this authentic. The DOP by Anand C Chandran is immaculate and Midhun Murali's editing is seamless. The other major characters are played by Vineeth Sreenivasan,Basil Joseph and Johny antony. They have performed such hilarious performances. It was really nice to see Abu Salim in such a different character. The role of his wife, done by Ganga meera was also nice. Annu antony and Arun Kumar extended vibrancy and energy to their characters. All the newcomers did a commendable job. Jagadeesh also acted in a very notable role. The music by Sachin Warrier is another highlight of the movie. The colour grading by Bilal Rashid is on point ,I need to say! The visuals perfectly encapsulated the emotions of the movie. All in all brilliant execution by Ganesh Raj,the writer come director. Congratulation to Vinod shornur and Thomas thiruvalla for producing such a sweet movie. Rafi Kannadiparba needs to be appreciated for his brilliant costume sense, all the colour's selected were so soothing to eyes. The lyrics by Kaithapram and rafeeq Ahmed conveyed a lot. Cheers to entire team .
Fantastic is an understatement to describe this movie and there's sooo much to say😃
-Vijayaraghavan sublimed the role by giving it a new definition. If it were an actual older actor, we wouldn't have to expect anything, but because it was Vijayaraghavan, it was exciting to see what he would bring to the table.
His walk, his talk, and mannerisms solidified his performance all the way. He really lived like an older person
-The plot was original as it centered on older people and addressed an extremely sensitive issue. So while watching, we were putting ourselves in Ichoy's and Ichamma's shoes, trying to figure out what we would do.
The movie also highlighted something important, it's not because older people have come to an advanced age that they no longer have rights, their needs should never be suppressed even if they only have few days to live.
-the screenplay was excessively rich in characters, it even put a spotlight on a dog & a cow friendship😆 Basil Joseph & Vineeth Sreenivasan intensified the humor with their awkward love-hate relationship. Ichoy's family was realistically structured with a daughter suffering from Alzeimer and a lost son
-What can we say about the direction and the cinematography? Ganesh didn't waste time, about 15min into the film, the climax was already ignited, and the fact that new faces were gradually added along the scenario, it made the story even more interesting
Anend C Chandran's attention to the littlest details and even the sound. Wow! We loved him in Bheesma Parvam and we love him in Pookkaalam.

I am sharing my experience.
I saw a youtube short video, which Actor vijayaraghavan dubbing clip...It was really touching
Coming to film; Casting was exceptional. Especially Vijayaraghavan,KAPSC Leela. Both deserve award for their acting... Simple story, but have a strong ground for family feelings.. Hatsoff to director. Had great stuff. He really deserves a big salute, in certain emotional scenes, he really controlled the actors not to go beyond the expression.
Both Vijayaraghavan & Leela, their body language (as old age people) was awsome in all scenes.
I think there was one song in this film.....but we didn't find that song anywhere
Actually its a very good film.....highly recommended for all film lovers.

This movie was a comfort movie, the acting was great on most of the part. The 2 main characters the grandma and the grandpa did really good. The story and the aesthetic was beautiful, and made viewers feel at home. I could only give this film a 7 because it was average with the way the dialogues were written. Especially for the granddaughter who made every scene cringe with the way she spoke and acted. Maybe she would have done better if she had better lines, but other than that actors like Arun Kurian did a great job. I only wished there would be more back story to what happened and how some of the characters ended up the way they did. Overall this movie was calm but just long on other parts while still being funny occasionally. I could say you could watch it once and not get bored of it.
