Over the weekend, Wamg visited The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios Hollywood and we were not disappointed!

From the moment you walk into the theme parks’ latest attraction, you are transported to the magical Diagon Alley and platform 9 and 3/4 at King’s Cross Station in London. Harry Potter fans will instantly recognize the famous Hogwarts Express locomotive and all the shopping any hopeful wizard could want before heading to Hogwarts.

Universal Studios Hollywood has done a fantastic job of recreating the most intricate details to wow visitors and die-hards alike. The facades are spectacular and even with the crowds, its easy to forget that you are not actually in another time and place. As you make your way through the alley, there are shops selling everything from wands and spellbooks to Butterbeer and owls. There are also timed performances from the “Frog Choir” – a presentation of songs...

Very soon you’ll have your pick of two coasts for your escape into the world where yer a wizard. The newest Wizarding World of Harry Potter theme park will open at Universal Studios Hollywood on Thursday, April 7, 2016. The opening of the park near Los Angeles follows the 2010 opening of the Wizarding World park in Orlando, Florida and the 2014 opening of the park in Osaka, Japan. The California park will feature a “Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey” ride similar to the flagship attraction in the sister parks, though with the update of 3D technology. Muggles were overjoyed this summer when a new location for The Wizarding World of Harry Potter was announced at Universal Studios Hollywood. Now, that expansion project officially has an opening date -- and it's coming up a lot sooner than we thought.

USA Today reports that the new attraction, which will recreate the village of Hogsmeade and Hogwarts Castle, is set to open on April 17, 2016. Construction crews must have been using some serious magic, since the project will have been completed less than a year after it was first announced back in June.

But the condensed timeline doesn't mean that the park has skimped on the details. You see, there's The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Orlando Florida, and of course you've been to the Harry Potter studio tour in London, but now Hollywood is getting in on the action.

Universal Orlando opened theirs in 2010, and Universal Hollywood announced late last year that they'll also be bringing Hogwarts to their theme park at some point in the future.

The Los Angeles Times has the news, and says the expansion will probably cost Universal Japan a hefty $500 million. That will cover building Hogwarts and the Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey ride on the park property, plus whatever other additions they plan to include. Construction is expected to begin within the next few weeks.

The next few years are going to be pretty exciting for fans of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. It was recently announced that a new Wizarding World location would be opening up in Universal Hollywood over the next few years as Universal Orlando expands its current "Potter"-themed area.

What's neat about the Wizarding World is the ability for the "Potter" legacy to live on even as we get further and further away from the culmination of the book and film series'. No matter how many years pass, Harry, Ron and Hermione will still be there, ageless, inviting fans to go on adventures with them in "Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey."
