Screen siren Tawny Kitaen returns to our screens on the hunt for a killer in After Midnight, the latest film from renowned filmmaker Fred Olen Ray (the man behind one of my favourite horror B-movies, Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers). When an exotic dancer is murdered at a seedy strip club, her sister Constance (Catherine Annette – Silent But Deadly), a TV newscaster, goes undercover to find the killer. While working at the club, she quickly realizes that everyone is a suspect and that other dancers are being targeted. She must work fast to find the killer to seek her revenge before she becomes the next target.
After Midnight debuts via VOD on October 28th from Phase 4 Films, in anticipation of it’s release we chatted to star Catherine Annette about her role and working with Fred Olen Ray and Tawny Kitaen…
What was it that attracted you to the film, Catherine?...

Horror comedy Smothered is written and directed by actor turned director John Schneider. Yes, you did read that correctly… Actor John Schneider, who many will know from family-friendly productions and his roles as Bo Duke on Dukes of Hazzard and more recently Jonathan Kent, aka Superman’s dad, on Smallville, has turned his hand to writing and directing in more recent years but who knew he had a penchant for penning horror? Admittedly he has had roles in low-budget monster movies such as Super Shark, Snow Beast and Lake Placid 2 but I had no idea he was such a horror fan – he certainly has to be to create such a love letter to the horror community as Smothered.

Now that May sweeps has swept on by and the “in-season” TV season has passed … well, don’t put down that remote just yet. Not by a stretch. Because it is time to (So You Think You Can) Dance, solve more White Collar crimes, taunt those Pretty Little Liars, return to Dallas, Suits up, play with some Political Animals, say farewell to Eureka and more.
Here are more than 100 dates, from series premieres (shown in blue, with a brief summary) to returning faves, with a few finales and specials thrown in.

The seemingly endless wait for the Syfy summer schedule is finally over! There is good news and bad, and one thing that is both good and bad. Let’s start with that: the Eureka Season Finale. We love Eureka, so every episode is good news; the fact that it’s a series finale, not so much. Mark your calendars – and have plenty of Kleenex in stock – for July 16 at 9/8c. Right after Comic-Con, which is early this year. We’ll see if that means a panel or not.
The good news: Warehouse 13 and Alphas return on July 23. The hmmm news is that Lost Girl will move to Fridays at 10 on July 20. Hey That’S Haven’S Spot. So Where The Heck Is Haven? Admittedly we had a head’s up that Haven would be pushed to fall when we learned that the DVDs for Season 2 weren’t being released until September but Argh.

Well bugger me! Fresh from a semi-rant earlier today it seems we have our second piece of 'shark' related horror news of the day. As if there was any room left in the release schedule to force another shark flick in we're gifted with news of yet another shark-related DVD release. This time it's for Fred Olen Ray's ('Bikini Royale 2') low-budget horror 'Super Shark'. The trailer coupled with the movies tagline, 'That's one big ass shark!', gives great insight into what we can expect from the release hitting DVD in February 2012. Hot actress Sarah Lieving -below ('Night of the Living Dead 3D: Re-Animation') leads the way as a marine biologist. John Schneider, Tim Abell, Jerry Lacy, Ted Monte and Jimmie Walker all co-star and you can check out the highly realistic plot concept and trailer below. So whether sharks are the simplest creature...

Holy crap. I mean — holy crap. The trailer for “Invisible Mom 2″ director Fred Olen Ray’s upcoming monster movie “Super Shark” is packed to the gills with fish-related mayhem, so much so that I really don’t think I need to watch the entire movie. The embedded trailer is two-and-a-half minutes long, and features a large number of the flick’s flesh-munching kills. Why suffer through a pointless narrative when you can easily digest all of the highlights in a fraction of the time? I’m just saying. Synopsis junkies are about to get their fix: An offshore drilling accident triggers the release of a giant prehistoric shark. When marine biologist Kat Carmichael (Sarah Lieving) arrives, she runs up against corporate frontman Roger Wade (John Schneider, The Dukes Of Hazard, Smallville, Desperate Housewives), who plots with Stewart (Jerry Lacy, Dark Shadows) to disrupt her investigation. With the help of Skipper Chuck (Tim Abell,...

When last we reported on Fred Olen Ray’s newest foray into CGI-free creature featuredom, it was titled Dire Wolf. The distributors must not have liked the word “dire” because the title is now Dino Wolf. Hey, that “dino” suffix sure has done b-movie wonders for crocs and sharks so why not a mammal for a change?
Maxwell Caulfield (Empire Records) and TV’s “Buck Rogers” Gil Gerard star in this bloodbath from the venerable b-moviemaker responsible for such cult favorites as Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers and Evil Toons/ about scientists regenerating a dire wolf from a nearly fossilized skeleton using human stem cells that results in the spawning of a human-dire wolf monstrosity that breaks loose and terrorizes the small nearby mountain village of Santa Mira Springs.
Dino Wolf will be making its world premiere at the B-Movie Celebration in Franklin, Indiana, for any of you in that area September...

Last week may have been “Shark Week” on TV, but this music video trailer for Fred Olen Ray’s Super Shark set to the tune of a blacksploitation styled theme song composed and performed by legendary R&B crooner Harvey Scales is the true discovery.

The creature feature is directed by Fred Olen Ray and is set to air later this year.

Just when The Asylum though they had the market cornered on movies featuring mega-sized sharks, here comes Fred Olen Ray's Super Shark to up the ante with a giant land-walking shark that does battle with a walking Sherman tank mech.
Undead Backbrain got the exclusive update on the Hollywood Chainsaw Hooker's director's foray into the world of mega-sized carcharodon mayhem, including both new artwork and the exclusive new trailer. Fighter jets get bitten out of the sky, oil rigs are toppled, bikini babes are terrorized, Jimmie Walker says "Dy-No-Mite!", and a shark flippers its way onto land to do battle with a tank straight out of General Patton's steampunk fantasies. What more could you possibly want?
A former "Dukes of Hazzard" star, you ask? You got it. John Schneider stars. As does Sarah Lieving, whom you may recall as the female lead in The Asylum's Mega Shark vs. Crocosaurus.

Not content to just have in production Mega Python vs. Gatoroid starring Eighties pop princesses Debbie Gibson and Tiffany, The Asylum is also pressing forward with Mega Shark vs. Crocosaurus, and this time their stunt casting dips into 1990's pop culture with the announcement it will star none other than Jaleel White, best known to fans of "Family Matters" as that lovable nerd Steve Urkel.
Joining Urkel will be "Star Trek: Voyager"'s holographic doctor Robert Picardo, Gary Stretch (Alexander), and Sarah Lieving, who must really love goofy monster shark flicks since she'll also be seen soon co-starring in Fred Olen Ray's Super Shark Attack.

B-movie legend Fred Olen Ray is hard at work on a movie called "Super Shark Attack," which looks more ridiculous than "Sharktopus" and "Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus" combined. But unlike other sharks, it has evolved and has now swim, walk on land and apparently fly. In the race to come up with the most outlandish maneating sea animal flick, it appears b-movie legend Fred Olen Ray is out to give Sharktopus a run for its money. As you'll see in this "Shark Week" parody teaser trailer for his latest creature feature Super Shark Attack, this gigantic shark not only rules the ocean as the ultimate predator and can "Air Jaws" with the best of them, you won't even be able to escape on shore now because this sucker can walk on dry land.
