This past weekend I attended the annual Sherlock Holmes fandom celebration, a.k.a. the Bsi Weekend in New York City; a time I always thoroughly look forward to and enjoy. The weekend is great both for the setting (so much to see and do in NYC, both Sherlockian and otherwise) and for the friends (new and old) that attend.
One of the Sherlockian highlights of this year’s weekend for me was the Daintiest Thing in a Dressing Gown Pyjama Party, put on by the Baker Street Babes. I always get a kick out of costume parties, and this one featured lots of fun and creative pajama costumes, both Victorian and modern, and took place in the uber-cool and historic setting of The Players NYC (seriously – read their history page. So cool). It was a blast!
A non-Sherlockian highlight of my weekend was getting to see the current production...

“Guess who?! Ha ha ha hah hah! Ha ha ha hah hah! Hahahahah!” Looks like another iconic cartoon character from Hollywood’s Golden Age is finally returning to the silver screen! He joins the ranks of Mickey Mouse in the theatrical short subject “Get a Horse’ that will be paired with Disney’s Frozen, the Loony Tunes Warner Brothers gang recently seen in the “I Tawt I Taw a Putty Tat” short preceeding Happy Feet 2, and Popeye the Sailor Man (technically a comic strip star) in his very own CGI feature from director Genndy Tartakovsky (Hotel Transylvania) in production at Sony Pictures. Why it’s that fine feathered frantic fury, Woody Woodpecker! Animation reporter and historian Jerry Beck reported over at the website Indiewire that animator Bill Kopp (TV’s “Eek the Cat” and “Dan Vs.” amongst many credits) has been signed to bring that red-headed rascal back to theatres...

Throughout his three seasons of waging war against anything that enrages him, Dan of The Hub’s animated hit Dan Vs. has had some pretty justifiable targets: stupidity, traffic, reality TV, Canada. But I dunno, he might be reaching a bit in his latest episode, “Vegetables,” during which his anger is fueled by Burgerphile’s decision to eliminate french fries to make way for healthier options like — gasp! — broccoli. It gets pretty ugly, even by Dan Vs. standards, so much that eventually military-grade toxic chemicals are introduced, and Dan must eventually deal with his inadvertent creation of a giant broccoli [...]...

We're a day away from the Big Brother 14 finale, you guys! While I'm a little bummed to be saying goodbye to my favorite summer show, it will be nice to have three nights a week open now, am I right?
Anyway, anything can happen tomorrow night. It seems Dan is thinking about doing what he does best -- throwing the competition -- to Ian so he doesn't have to piss off Danielle when he inevitably breaks their F2 deal and takes Ian. But who knows! Dan is very meticulous when it comes to making moves and he will do whatever he thinks will win him that 500K.
But sadly, there may be nothing he can do. While he has easily played the best game out of the three of them (and well, everyone), he's also played the most ruthless game. And if the jury remains as bitter as we last saw them,...

On the latest "Big Brother 14" episode, Dan finally starts winning things. Also, now is a great time to get the live feeds. Since Thursday is a live double eviction, there will almost surely be an endurance comp that starts as the episode ends, but you can watch on the feeds. Plus, as we get closer to the finale, there will be the final Head of Household rounds that take place on the feeds.
Post Nominations
Jenn is really nervous, which is kind of insane. Sure, it sucks to be nominated, but c'mon. This is like the week she got so mad about being the replacement nominee -- all you gotta do is lay low, girl. People want Frank out. Just calm down. At least hide your freaking out, instead of going bat-crap crazy like two weeks ago.
Dan has Frank completely wrapped up in their Final 2 deal, which is hilarious.

Do you think the "Big Brother" Powers That Be will find a way to save Janelle from eviction? A coup d'etat? A Pandora's Box? There are some conspiracy theories that the Ptb tried to mix things up in the house Thursday morning (Aug. 9) by "accidentally" broadcasting a Diary Room session of Dan's to the house for just a few short minutes, but we aren't sure we're quite on board with that.
If the producers were going to try to keep Janelle around, they would have used one of their ridiculous "powers," like when Jeff got the coup d'etat. And there's precedence for mistakes happening in the sound booth for letting Dr sessions slip out.
Also, it has really seemed this week as if Janelle's heart just isn't in it. She's ready to go home. So we're just saying -- if CBS wanted to influence the game, they wouldn't have been that sneaky about it.

Before "summering" comes to those on the Upper East Side, there are a few last things to resolve on the season finale of "Gossip Girl."
Here's what we learned on Monday's (May 14) episode.
[Spoiler Alert]
Blair vs. Serena: Serena (Blake Lively) thoughtlessly and perhaps more than a little vindictively abducted Blair's (Leighton Meester) diary. So when Gossip Girl reclaims the computer (with the diary on it), she has a treasure trove of Upper East Side dirt to make use of. This sets off a chain of events that immediately pits an understandably upset Blair against a scheming Serena. But the real loser might just turn out to be Dan (Penn Badgley). This brings us to our next point...
Dan vs. Chuck: The two foes are still battling it out for Blair's heart. Things go more than slightly askew for Dan as his worst fears about Blair are manipulated and realized. Chuck (Ed Westwick), on the other hand,...

In this sneak preview clip from next week's Gossip Girl, Serena has something she wants to tell Blair ... only she doesn't get a chance to spit it out because Blair is rambling on about Dan's decision to pass on Rome.
At the end of "Raiders of the Lost Art," Dan turned down the prestigious writing fellowship offered to him for the summer, a fact that apparently doesn't sit well with B, who takes it as a sign that he doesn't trust her.
Trust, after all, is the most crucial component in a relationship, "after sex, hygiene and earning potential." If there were a Dan vs. Chuck scorecard for those categories, who do you think would rank higher?
Just asking. Serena tries to back off after hearing Blair vent, but is quickly called out on her C+ lie. We know from the Canadian Gossip Girl promo that she spills her secret eventually.

I'm a huge fan of animation, animated films are getting better and better. Not only is the look and animation getting ridiculously awesome, but I find that many of these animated films actually have incredibly good stories. Not all of them are good though, for example, Cars 2 and Rio sucked. It will be interesting to see who ends up taking home the awards this year. Out of the movies on the list that I've seen and liked we have Puss in Boots, Rango and Kung Fu Panda 2. I guess it's no surprises that Kung Fu Panda 2 is leading the nominations with 9. Check out the list and let us know what your favorite animated movies of the year are!

Is a 'Family Ties' reunion finally happening? Not quite, but Steven and Elyse Keaton -- a.k.a. Michael Gross and Meredith Baxter -- are together again, and this time they're getting animated.
The famous TV couple reunites for 'Dan Vs.' (season 2 premieres Sat., Nov. 19, 8Pm Et on The Hub) -- it's a very special Thanksgiving-themed episode, which is perfect since we're infinitely thankful to have them both back on TV. What would we do, baby, without them? Stop me before I sha-la-la-la.
Dan always assumes everyone is against him (hence the show's title), but as his best friend's wife Elise's parents, Gross and Baxter's characters might actually be on his side. Or not. ''They're quirky parents, and they're conspiratorial," Gross said. "They're not nearly as nice as Elyse and Steven Keaton were, which is a lot of fun for us.
