Contestants have confirmed that they actually eat breakfast at their hotel before filming the breakfast scene at the start of the day.
While the show wants the viewer to believe the cast stay over night at the castle, past contestants have confirmed that in reality they spend the night at a close by hotel.
Daily life for the contestants is strictly regimented. Bedtime is enforced and guards are posted to ensure players don't leave their rooms unexpectedly; extracting the Traitors for their scenes in the castle's turret has been described by some on the crew as "a military operation" in its precise scope. They are also permitted only one alcoholic drink per night, lest they become inebriated and give the game away. While they do receive a measure of "personal time," they're instructed not to discuss the game while mics and cameras are away.
Each morning all the remaining contestants from the previous nights round table arrive at the castle in different jeeps and are then put in different holding rooms.
It is here, just before they walk into breakfast, when they find out if they have been murdered by the traitors or not.
For season one they originally filmed the cast meeting for the first time at the "Boat of Garten" station where they boarded a steam train on the Strathspey Railway like they do for The traitors UK. However one of the original contestants had to be removed from the show due to getting covid.
Because of time constraints that scene couldn't be re filmed. Instead the cast was filmed approaching the castle in cars. This is now the default way the cast arrive to the castle at the start of each season.
