The film follows the journey of Sanjay a middle-class unemployed youth. For someone who's lost his father will relate to this even more.
Realistic acting by all the characters of the movie and chemistry between them us truly mesmerising.
To be honest I'm really short of words. This movie makes you feel part of it, with its story the music and the direction. Anupam patnaik take a bow for the awesome work that you have put across. No doubt why anupam kher himself has declared to remake this in Hindi. Roshan the writer of the movie has depicted the right story that will hit the audience at their heart.
And don't get me started with the music, where was this kind of music. Have saved it across all streaming.
Thank you team Technoartproductionz 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

The story deals with the relationship between a about to retired father and an unemployed son. The sweet and bitter relationship in between them were well presented with a touch of reality. The movie is well made keeping middle class family in mind with a good intention which definately going to touch every individuals heart and this is the USP of this movie. Good Music is also another plus point. Lead actors are superb and do full justice to their characters. So recommended to watch this beautiful family movie with your whole family.
As a whole it is a good movie having a heart of its own and placed in right place.

I watched Pratikshya, a Odia movie in Bengaluru today. It was directed by debutant Anupam Patnaik who has arguably created one of the best Odia movies of all time. This is no mean feat considering Odia cinema has a history of 86 years. The screenplay is amazing and the movie has been shot in real-life locations of Bhubaneswar. I didn't find any artificial locations or sets anywhere. The story is extremely relatable to every Odia middle class person. The idiosyncrasies and struggles of an Odia unemployed youth is portrayed realistically. The movie is 2 hours 15 mins long and has only 3 songs. The music is quite refreshing with the use of guitar and unadulterated Odia lyrics. The music directors and singers deserve credit for this. There are no unnecessary songs and the casting is absolutely spot on. Dipanwit shines through brilliantly throughout the film. He has immersed himself into the role so much that audiences are bound to engage with the character. The movie also shows the frustration and pessimism of Odia youth with the corrupt government offices and recruitment system in most government organisations. The general preference for government jobs even at the cost of unemployment for multiple years, a massive social issue in Odisha also comes across in the film.
Choudhary Jayaprakash Das is a theatre veteran and plays the role of the father so effortlessly that it doesn't feel like he is an actor. He seems like every other typical Odia father who is nearing retirement and is worried about his son's unemployment. Barsha Nayak and Siddhant Mahapatra have played their limited roles well.
The movie is currently running at Innovative Multiplex in Bengaluru. The tickets are available on Paytm. It is expected to see greater response from Odias in Bengaluru and elsewhere in India in the coming week. The response so far in Odisha has been quite encouraging. I would urge fellow Odias to watch the movie in theatres in large numbers and support this film. Thanks for reading 🙏

I can't forget the feeling which I got from that movie. According to me it's a story of each and every middle class family. Thanks to the entire team of Pratikhsya for this angelic gift in the end of the year. There is no way to ignore this movie. Much love and huge respect to all of you team Pratikshya. Every actors are playing their character from their heart and soul. And lyrics of the songs are also so heart touching. After a long gap I got some good odia songs through this movie. And the song Kahare Akasa, Kahide Sagar, this song is on loop in my youtube that I love it's video version. The best.

Every youth of India should watch this..You will realise the sacrifices ,thinking & pain of a father towards his child. The relation between our dear ones r eroding day by day due to the stress, struggle & pressure of this modern world in our lyf. U will imagine & ur mind - heart become excessively heavy at the climax..I can't hold my emotions after 1 hr of the movie also.
Unexpected & deserving climax makes it a more than masterpiece. I can say at last I feel my father's love for me while seeing the busy open no meaning world while travelling in the bus on the way home. My father ❤😭🙏 Being in the situation in which 's the hero was in real lyf..I never agrees with him bcoz I m living in this real world,he did very harsh mistakes on me bcoz of his unawareness & slightly rough personality towards me at the same time I always realises his unconditional love ,support & silent work for my lyf. I m so much confident of me that I can win this struggling phase of my lyf bcoz of my every positive steps taken for myself is possible bcoz of strong standing of my father with me which I can't pay him back. I m very unnatural emotional right now.😭🙏Only I can realize what I m feeling right now..Go everyone watch this movie to give a mental tribute to ur father.🙏

The movie gives us deep insite about a relationship between a father and the son. The special bond present between them. When their emotion acts as conversation between them. Many times ours emotion are enough to project our love towards our father. They say na "We can not repay the love a father gives us". That's what the movie showcases in a beautiful way. A father till his last breath always thinks good of this son. And when the son realises the his love than everything is gone forever. They can't tell I love you my dear son but there affection is much more towards us. A true emotional movie.

This is a great movie. This movie is describe about a unemployed son and his father. Please support our odia movie industry. It's director Anupam brother doing fantastic job in this movie. The main hero of this movie is Dipanwit. He is a talented hero in our odia movie industry. For him the movie is all time blockbuster. Very good songs are there in this movie. The main plus point of this movie is acting, bgm and presentation. This is a very good movie. Another plus point is all youth can connect with this movie. After Daman movie this is the another super scripted movie in odia language. Thank you.
I hate director Anupam Patnaik for bringing tears into my eyes . A heart which is pure that can only produce this type of film . After Daman the movie Pratikshya gave hope to Odia film industry that it can get audience if your content is pure and made straight from heart .
The movie is a pure form of emotion . It showed the relationship between a father and son in purest possible way . The pain of a unemployed middle class youth is clearly depicted in the film . At the same time it showed the true character of a loving father .
The music is also moved along with the storyline . Background score is also captivating. Great direction when fueled with great acting that resulted in production of this kind of film . Best of luck to team Pratikshya for a theatrical sucess .

After such a long time, almost when the 'GenZ' lost all hopes on odia movies, ollywood has given the people of Odisha a beautifully directed movie 'Pratikhya'.
It has all those elements in it which a normal person, leading a middle class life, will surely connect.
Well done Team Pratikhya for making this film and giving hopes for ollywood industry.
It is a must watch for everybody of every generation. The characters, the emotions, the songs, the expressions, the lyrics, the direction, the cinematography, everything little thing is just upto the mark.
We will wait for such cinemas in future - Pratikhya !

I loved the movie because of the direction, screenplay, actors and their characters, music and background score and sound mixing.
Things which I personally felt which could've been better are, sound design, dialogue dubbing and it's mixing.
Especially I want to write about the character of the mother because I was totally into the movie and I was about to cry in a lot of scenes but then I hated the over dramatic acting from the actress who played the character of lead actor's mother. I felt so bad that I failed to connect emotionally just because of that one character, it distracted me a lot.

The film has decent craft in the sense that nobody is wearing loud make up, dialogues arent outlandish, the camera isnt going crazy, the edit is steadfast, the performances are mostly not operatic except for a couple of key characters, but that is all the film has to offer. While it claims to give an inner look into an existential crisis it ends up being a justification of all the causes of the crisis. The critique of social practice and ills that it claims to offer is actually a cover up. What it does instead is offer is a one size fits all solution, a generalised story that suits all. It is not a bold piece of art at all, instead it placates the middle class, appeases the political structures, reinforces meritocracy and nitpicks upon a couple of characters created only for mirroring the same. All of it results in a terribly mediocre movie.

Pratikshya is a breath of fresh air in the midst of the monotony of mainstream odia cinema.
The climax will feel like a wrecking ball breaking your heart into a million. It's been an acting masterclass from Choudhry Jay Prakash, the wry humor felt real, and astute dialogue deliveries hit home for me. Dipanwit plays with a visceral nuance of Sanjay's character. His brilliance shines in the silences as much as it does in words. You'll almost feel as if you have seen, and probably meet him in your own life. It is so true to life and so realistically portrayed as if you are a bystander to a normal everyday conversation.
Anupam Patnaik delivers an emotionally dense yet delicately crafted world and stages lengthy conversations that build and build in emotional intensity even as the characters keep their voice steady " Sabu bhala lokanka saha kharap kahinki hue" as Sanjay at one point tells his mother.
Pratikshya will be remember as the film of the decade for ollywood.

I never thought that I would be writing a review for an Odia movie. It is my first Odia movie in a movie theatre. Storytelling and my love for art have always pushed me to genuinely get into the characters of some stories that are meant to create a long-term impact on a viewer's mind. And this movie stands out for that.
"Pratikshya" though it started on a slow note, went on to create a heavy impact, and I was happy to see the audience in the theatre were literally crying and needed consolation. The characters were so well portrayed, with not a bit of overacting by anyone. The screenplay is so beautifully done that one cannot question the genuineness of it at any point, and the reel seemed only real. The music was spot on, and the lyrics of each song were drafted like a smooth boat on a peacefully flowing body of water.
The main lead is a star in the making. Dipanwit is a gem of an actor that any film industry should never lose. Man, how is it possible that every bit of your acting was so in-depth that it literally touched everyone's heart?
The only thing I felt that the sister's character could have been made a bit more powerful when the important stage of the story kept approaching.
Else this movie needs all praise. Hope, Odia movie industry revives with gems like this.

I have been an odia film viewer for the last 30 years and have seen the downfall of this industry. I watched both DAMAN and pratikshya but this film is technically much superior and has a more mature film language than daman. Lovely casting Jay Prakash has got the recognition he deserved. The new talent Dipanwit has a class of its own he has much to grow but delivered a heartwarming performance. The soothing scores of Ashish & ankesh will glue you to your seat. I think these are the new-generation maestros. The cameraman's swift work elevated the music numbers with its smooth tracking shots especially in "KAHA RE AKASHA" .
Kudos to the director for taking such a mature subject and dealing with the required maturity.
