Movie is an easy 6 out of 10

Interesting look at the interplay between two detectives investigating a heist from a rich mans art collection...very smartly scripted with good quality actors playing believable roles that do not insult your intelligence...Good screenplay and very good shots...all in all a good quality movie...don't believe the low rating..it is balderdash...also this business of not being able to submit a review unless it has 10 lines is stupid...but these are their rules and so I must say something else here to satisfy their rules.well, once again they will not let me submit without more lines...really?...give me a break...maybe I should start relating green eggs and ham like ted cruz did during his filibuster...honestly this rule is so stupid..I have said everything I wanted to say, and kept it succinct for a reason...but lets give it another try and see if these people will allow me to submit...ridiculous rule

    An entertaining whodunnit

Several minutes into the movie, it was clear the less than stellar acting would persist throughout the movie. Yet that may have been the director's purpose, as other elements of the movie, from the music, to the settings and cinematography, are done in earlier styles, as well, reminiscent of similar flicks done in the 1930s. The plot is indeed interesting, with the usual set of twists which will keep you interested, particularly when you learn there's something deeper going on... From the usual assortment of seedy characters, to clues cleverly sprinkled throughout the various scenes, this movie is is a sleeper that will wake you up with interest. At one point, the director engages in a very interesting parallel set of scenes that literally had me grinning at their enjoyable novelty. In all, a good flick.

Gina Gershon is good as a femme fatale

Gina Gershon is obviously the best thing about this neo-noir movie that centres around a high art burglary. She brings the allure and raw appeal of a mysterious femme fatale.

Outside of her, the rest of the cast is serviceable the kind of characters you'd expect in a movie like this. A young hot shot detective, and the grizzly, cynical cigar smoking veteran, do their parts accordingly.

The cinematography does let it down as a neo-noir by being very pedestrian and just looking like a made for TV movie. The pacing is a slow burn and picks up as the movie nears its end, and the mystery is revealed.

Decent Thriller With A Few Twists - Because You're Worth It!

A criminal heist, a creepy billionaire with more than a few secrets, a retired cat burglar with a sassy lawyer daughter & 2 differing detectives working the case - old school & new school.

Between the 2 detectives, they start piecing the case together as a killer starts murdering all of the suspects 1 x 1. Clues are strewn throughout the plot as it becomes clear there's more to the case than meets the eye - and the victim. Drip, drip, drip as the clues drop.

There's an allusion to the classics which gives you an idea as to what's going on but you don't really get the full picture until after a few timely twists at the end (& I'd still like to know what the tattoo means).

I really enjoyed this. Entertaining, suspenseful, & a gripping yarn. Totally unpretentious, low budget, smart, but not a taxing watch that gives you a little giggle at the end (& enjoying the outcome! There's so many, vain, greedy, pretentious & arrogantly smug narcissists out there that I'd like to see getting the same treatment!). Good seeing Gina Gershon doing her sexy sassy glam & vampy best once again. A blast from the past - literally.

    Worth the watch.

    Surprisingly smart

I didn't expected much from this movie after i saw the score here on IMDb, but i decided to watch because of the other comment that said it was a good movie. Not that i believed it (i thought it was someone form the cast or something) but i gave it a try anyway. This is one of those movies that is smart in every way you look at it. With a handful of actors, a handful of locations and a handful of $, they made this interesting movie, which keeps you in 'the dark' till the very end. This is a good movie, but if you take into account the resources they had, it's an excellent movie... Don't be fooled by the budget though. If i were to rate the aspects of this movies, i would say something like: Filming 8/10, Sound effects 7/10, Audio Quality 5/10, Plot 8/10.
