Mac's whole image and attitude is a direct copy of John Connor in Terminator 2, another time travel story.
In the premier, Mac says she was a Care Bear for Halloween when she was 4 years old. In the 7th episode it states that Mac was born in 1976 on her tombstone and July 5th by herself in response to another character. Care Bears (the toy) weren't introduced until 1983 and weren't created until 1981. As a 12 year old in 1988, Max would have been 7 when Care Bears first came out, and 4 or 5 years old when they were first created (depending on month first published as a greeting card.) Still, highly unlikely that she dressed as a Care Bear for Halloween.
