The first VeggieTales production made where only one of the two creators will be involved with the film. While it was confirmed in 2025 that Mike Nawrocki will be involved, co-creator Phil Vischer will not have any involvement Phil Vischer following his departure from the franchise in 2021.
This will be the first VeggieTales feature film ever since The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything: A VeggieTales Movie (2008) 18 years prior.
Originally the film was to be called LarryBoy Begins but it was changed to LarryBoy due to the original title sounding too similar to Batman Begins (2005) and the fact Warner Bros. and DC Comics would have sued Big Idea for the title.
Although the film was announced on February 5, 2024, producer Art A. Ayris revealed that they did not start writing the script until the week after Easter of 2024, which was 2 months after the announcement.
A year after the film's announcement, Producer Art A Ayris confirmed that co-creator Mike Nawrocki will be involved in the writing and voice acting of the film on February 8, 2025. Kingstone Studios and NBCUniversal did not originally inform co-creator Mike Nawrocki that they were making a Larryboy movie when they first announced it in February 2024.
