This was David Ackroyd's last appearance as Gary Ewing. He was committed to another series based on the novel by Louisa May Alcott, Little Women (1979) when it was decided to branch Gary and Valene off to Knots Landing (1979), so Ted Shackelford took over the role.

Goofs
When Pam visits Digger, the sound of a thunderstorm can be heard while she's in the house. However, she parked her convertible with the top down, and a sunny day can be seen through the window as sounds of a storm raged.
