    A Weird, Wild, Hilarious Ride

I knew I had to get my hands on this movie when I saw the title Limp Fangs, that the main character's name was Count Malt Liquella, and that Reginald Vel Johnson makes an appearance. When I popped this movie in my DVD player, I was NOT disappointed. Have a drink (or a few), get some friends together, and watch this. Minds will be lost. Christopher Michael is hilarious on screen as the title-and-titular Count, as well doing double-duty as The Creeper, a black man in blackface (you read that right). Reginald Vel Johnson appears as the Reverend Shields, a clear parody of Al Sharpton, and is absolutely swinging for the fences in a dynamo performance. Charles Napier, who appeared in Silence of the Lambs, appears here as The Cowboy, singing a song to the camera when the Count is suffering from Advanced Vampire Dementia. Michael Des Barres narrates. With this story and cast alone, it is unthinkable to me that I had never heard of this movie before. It's intentionally trying to be offensive and in-your-face, and I haven't laughed this hard at a movie in a good long while. The low-budget aesthetic only adds to the laughs and fun.

I found out about this movie doing research for "Shut Up, Wesley!" - my Star Trek: The Next Generation podcast (Christopher Michael appeared in an episode of TNG, as well as being directed by Levar Burton in an episode of Deep Space Nine). I was so entranced by this gem, that we ended up doing a two-hour, two-part review of this movie, as well as an interview with Christopher Michael himself.

Right on! Right on! You got to let your fangs hang!
