I think Ant and Dec did the right thing resting this show for a few years. Towards the end of it's first long run (around 2009) things were getting a bit stale and the items on the show a bit dull (escape from Takeaway prison being a low point). You can have too much of a good thing and I think the show and perhaps all involved needed to go on to other things.
However, fast forward to 2013 and the show was back with a new energy, new bits of fun and games and it was like welcoming back an old friend. Ant and Dec won awards, scored a number one record and all was well.
This latest series (2014) hasn't been quite as good but the standard remains very high. Long may it continue.

The first show was terrific, the second was worryingly annoying. Slapping faces and running around the stage dates back to Marcombe & Wise. Trying to watch Rag & Bone man was frustrating as ant and dec jumped around like children. The whole fake looking for the connection lead for the rainbow laser was pathetic. Stick to what you do best, giving away great prizes to people who deserve it at this awful time in people's lives.

This was one of the most entertaining shows that I saw while I was in England. Every Saturday my roommates and I couldn't wait for "Ant and Dec" to come on. Other than Banzai this was by far my most favorite show to watch in England. I only wish it could be shown in the states.

Surely we've seen enough of these 2 people? Same old jokes, no ideas. I'd have thought Ant would prefer to be down the pub....
This show has the best Geordie duo in the UK, but for Saturday Nights every 7 weeks from February you can see the best things you've seen including the best segments like Little Ant and Dec, Ant VS Dec, etc. This show has everything fun you could possibly want and writing this comment now is that I'm hyped to see the duo again in 2020, watch it if you're in the UK, IT'S WORTH IT

This is a total pile of rubbish which is not funny and makes me feel like throwing something at the TV. The usual high volume crowd is soo annoying so watching it with no crowd I'm thinking hmmm maybe it will be ok ... but no utter tripe. Ant and Dec you could be doing something so much better than this. It's a waste of your talent.
When it's Saturday night and you're wanting something good to watch and all the TV shows that feel they've been on for centuries are dragging along then keep watching for this! A wonderful, entertaining series with two presenters that quite a lot of people have grown up with. The two Geordie lads are very funny and give the show that extra sparkle. The idea of being able to 'grab the ads' that you've seen is original and throw in a few other extra tidbits like 'what's next?' and 'Jim didn't fix it for me' and you've got a good hour long series that makes you wish it was on everyday. Now as a 15 year old I'm trying hard not to point out that Dec is very hot and that is a very appealing 'must-watch' thing but it's true, and he can't get away without a mention so there it is lol. Overall the show is a great family show, suitable for all really, very entertaining, very funny with two fantastic presenters. Yay!! Don't miss it!

Ant and Dec should beware of believing the hype surrounding their show. This even extends to their production team of 5 year olds who dont understand or appreciate sensitivites around Japanese WW2 atrocities.
Atrocity in an entirely different context is appropriate to describe the current show which is a complete rip off of Noel Edmonds Late Late Breakfast Show and The Two Ronnies.
Not entirely unrelated since the age group it seems to be produced by or aimed at would likely never have seen these much better and original shows.
Very few Advert unrelated elements rescue the show a tired humourless affair. The comedy is childish at best and is akin to the stuff they trotted out on BBC Saturday mornings maybe they should be looking for a change of timeslot for this Takeaway.
Theres the dilemma.
Ant and Decs comedy hasnt matured with their increasing age.
They have much more to offer which is restricted by the low quality mass populist approach taken by ITV.
The lads have really cheeky close to the bone after watershed potential which is untapped and could be equally lucrative. At the moment their humour and spontenaity seems to be hampered by their trying to satisfy the average age of viewers.
Dont they see by doing so their product and image becomes average too!

Not sure what all the hate and fuss is about because these two lovely lads make me laugh so much!!!! Maybe they're just jealous of the talented young lads!
Me and my husband like to put on the telly and watch them whilst eat our microwaved meals. We especially love the silly little pranks they pull, what a laugh!
However, i do think my husband gets jealous when little Dec is shown on the telly, as I've got quite a bit of a crush on him, Shhhhhh!
Anyway, worth the watch and honestly my go to tv-show. Love watching anything with them in. Such heartthrobs! Definitely my favourite Geordies of all time.

How much longer do we have to endure Ant & Dec's childish rubbish on Saturday evenings. And don't tell me to switch off - I have & do but there's not much decent stuff elsewhere. British TV is fast going down the pan and with this silly pair winning awards what hope is there, for goodness sake.

Saturday night take away is one of the most fantastic and entertaining shows on British TV at the moment. Hosted by two of Englands biggest and lovable stars, Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly, takeaway is a refreshing piece of comedy. Including many sketches with celebrities and the wonderful,Little Ant & Dec(James & Dylan) it is a show not to be missed. When thinking of this show and what it could compare to think of shows like SM:TV Live meets Noel's House Party meets Tiswas. This programme is a show that can be enjoyed by all ages of the family from 3-103, there is something for everyone, without getting bored. The amount of awards this show has won, this cant be a mistake Not to be missed
Why is this childish mess broadcast on ITV1 during the evening? This should be on children's television. I can't see how any adult (or teenager for that matter) can enjoy this silly mess of a show. The presenters are now in their early forties, but behave like ten-year- olds.
Ant and Dec are amazing no matter what they do, but ITV had the right idea when they stuck them on prime-time Saturday night TV. TV on a Saturday really does suck, but when another series comes on you know there'll be something decent to watch. Little Ant and Dec are fantastic, I mean how many pre-teens have interviewed Tony Blair and Kylie Minogue? Lets not forget the gotcha's which are hilarious. Sure, Noel did them first, but Ant and Dec have brought them into the 21st century.
Thank you guys for bringing laughter and entertainment to our Saturday nights.
Thank you guys for bringing laughter and entertainment to our Saturday nights.
Saturday Night Takeaway is a refreshing change from an evening TV that is mostly filled with Reality-TV.
First aired in 2002, Ant and Dec took the 'Noel's House Party' formula from the 1990's and reintroduced it with success, features include 'Little Ant & Dec', 'Ant & Dec Undercover', 'Beat the Boys' and 'Ant v Dec'. All these add up to a fun-filled show that doesn't involve voting off celebrities or hopeless singers and I really enjoy it.
I don't feel the show has quite the same atmosphere as 'Noel's House Party' and sadly some of the features such as 'Little Ant & Dec' and 'Ant & Dec Undercover' have seemed to have disappeared from later series but other than that, this is a great Saturday Night show.

I was unfortunate enough to see some parts of this truly diabolical show recently.
The first was when they set up Lorraine Kelly whom I'm sure is the twin sister of Susan Boyle, as it's too uncanny to be otherwise.
I felt insulted that the producers and presenters would even consider that the average viewer would find this either remotely amusing or entertaining. Even when they pan to the audience most look very unimpressed.
My second viewing was on 6th April when I sat in my chair literally cringing at the section where Holden and Cowel sat there like two characters from a horror movie who have had their faces melted, giggling at antics which were simpy totally not funny.
The awful Witche's cackle of Holden was too much to bear. Watching Mcfartlan eat that Banana was absolutely ridiculous, and with the new format of the two little old guys being controlled remotely by anyone from ITV who doesn't already get enough airtime is abhorrent. Ant and Dec are way too old now to be acting like little kids, it's embarrassing.
Please, whoever writes and producers this total and utter trash, sit back and watch a whole episode and hang your heads in shame. How can ANYONE think that this is good TV, HOW???
Where has even the slightest bit of intelligence gone from British TV now? It's aimed at people with an IQ of an amoeba.
Noel's House party was a masterclass in Saturday night TV, as was the old Generation Game etc.
Also the constant adverts every 6 to 7 minutes when the volume is turned up makes this programmes even more unbearable.
Who do advertisers target, as I can honestly say I have never purchased anything from an advert.
Please get this highly offensive to my intelligence, low quality, pointless and pathetic content gone.
The presenters speak to the viewer like we're toddlers. Don't get me started on that Masked Singer/Dancer, what will be next, the Masked Master-Baker, that should make the fake laughter even more fakely hysterical than it already is from McCall and all the other wasters. If the make presenter of that programme were a piece of chocolate he would eat himself with his affected mouth movements and overly animated gestures. Of course he's famous for his overly animated gestures is Joel but that's another story.
Why do the same people turn up year after year after year. Of course unless you have a famous parent like Walsh or Kemp normal people don't stand a chance.
The whole lot just make me physically nauseous.

Absolutely love ant and dec on whatever it is their doing, just a fantastic duo, well done guys, keep it up we all love you and look forward to all the amazing funny things you bring to our tvs, I have double lung cancer and can't wait to watch you're show , you bring so much joy to so many people and I thank you for that, there's laughter tears and joy, excitement something for all the family and we never go out on a Saturday night, we're always home for you boys. I'd absolutely love to win the takeaway get away holiday I'm always doing for others and would absolutely love to have a proper holiday so here's hoping I can be entered in to the competition with a chance, it would change my life and to be able to make so many great memories to last forever. I'm 55 years old and been through a domestic physical and mental abuse and also been a addict of substance abuse due to the violence and I've now been clean of all drugs for 8 years and trying to absolutely love every aspect of life. I'm smashing it, obviously having tumours in both lungs restricts a lot of things but I don't allow it to stop me having a good time I just take things a little bit slower, I have pre cancerous cells on my voice box and throat and I loose my voice a lot of the time but like I said you boys keep me laughing xxxxx.
It does warm up my Saturday but all the old ones were good but now it it's totally garbage not to be mean the reason why I'm saying it's garbage because there not bringing any laughter to some family's but it was very good from 2002_2021 last series was RUBBISH but all the others were good so I don't know why there not bringing more entertainment.

All I want to say is this. This show isn't gonna win any Oscars, lets just get that thing straight. But if your having a Saturday night in and fancy a chuckle, tune in.
The thing about Ant and Dec is you have to forget all the stupid, unimpressive things they do and really persevere because every now again they'll deliver a line that'll get your sides splitting. I think they're much better just improvising - working without a script. They are charming at times, any one has to admit to that. But sometimes, the things they do, I mean, they put a bit of plastic on their face with a huge camera following them around, and they expect people to believe them to be normal people? Er....no.
So all in all it isn't the best thing you'll ever see but it's far from the worst.
