The arcade cabinet boasted "78 possible matches!"
Of all the bosses made playable for this game, Sagat is the only one whose special moves do not need to be charged (i.e. holding back for two seconds, then forward and punch) in order to be executed.
This game featured all eight playable characters from the original Street Fighter II: The World Warrior (1991), plus it included all four non-playable bosses as playable characters.
For the first time in the series, you could pit a character against himself/herself.
The original arcade version of the game featured a pre-game cut scene in which two guys are facing each other. One punches the other and the camera scrolls up a building, where at the top the Street Fighter II logo can be seen.
