king of Turkish comedy strikes again!

Kemal Sunal is (arguably) the greatest actor in the history of Turkish comedy films. As being a huge fan of his films and acting skills, i don't remember how many times i have watched this movie -must be more than 20- ,but i'm ready to see it again. copculer krali means "king of the garbage men" in English, both kemal sunal and another comedy great sener sen definitely shine in this comedy masterpiece.. this is a film about a naive poor garbage man (k. sunal-as apti), falling in love with his chief's (sener sen) fiancée. his chief hates him and his fiancée knows that apti is in love with her, so she uses his love to force the chief to marry her..apti may be naive but he is also an unstopping troublemaker to his chief as he unconsciously does many things to make him go insane.. great comedy and portrait of 70's turkey

Unfortunately This Movie is unknown by the world

Yes. Unfortunately this movie is unknown by the world. People just know global movie makers productions or awarded movies by authorities such as Oscar Awards. But I bet most of Turkish movies especially acted by Kemal Sunal and Sener Sen could beat most of them if they joined the same competition with others. On the other hand these movies have to have English subtitles or dubbing English for going international.

A quite impressive look at the daily lives of people of Istanbul

This movie is a quite well-made critisizm and research of the daily lives of people of Istanbul, and how the social status of a person doesn't affect their personality, how smart or kind they are or how much better they are than other members of a society.

King

I like to start all Kemal Sunal's films with the same comment. Kemal Sunal is a great gift to us, the Turkish people. It is such a gift that; Our generation, the next generation, and even the generation after that will benefit from this. His value should always be known and his memory should always be kept alive. Going back to our movie The King of Garbagemen; We have all watched the master's films and memorized many of his scenes. As one of them, I knew a few scenes in this movie. But when I watched the movie from beginning to end in one go, the movie made much more sense to me. I watched another movie with very important messages. The place and importance of the King of Garbagemen in my opinion is; Kibar Feyzo, one of the most important films that will be released a year later and criticize the feudal system, is a warm-up with this film. Just as a humorous criticism was made against hierarchy in this film, a year later in our other film, the bar was raised and the feudal system was criticized. The fact that the cast of the two films is almost exactly the same supports my opinion. In this respect, it is an important movie for me. Even though it lags behind Sunal master's many films in terms of comedy, I think the drama and criticism in the film are elements that should be taken into consideration. Another issue I wanted to mention was the performance of Erdal Ozyagcilar, my favorite character in the movie. For some reason, I found it so successful that, even though it did not have many roles, it attracted my attention as much as other great actors. I wanted to open parenthesis. I end my comment by thanking the staff of Mimar Sinan University for giving us the chance to watch these magnificent films in their restored form. You are great.

Not as good as I remember

What makes this movie great is definitely it's music and the cast. Kemal Sunal, Sener Sen and partially Aysen Gruda play a great role on the movie's fame. But in fact apart from a few scenes it's below average among its generation. Humor and tragedy showed up in balance but both are not that effective. Characters carries those tragedies and comedies alone. It becomes cult in Turkish Cinema but unfortunately it's not even close the quality of Neseli Gunler or Tosun Aga or such... As I mentioned above Ozdemir Erdogan's Gurbet plays such a great role for the fame of the movie. It becomes one of my favorite yesilcam song all times.
