Featured review
Typical of the high quality of Porno Chic features released late in Adult Cinema's theatrical era, this minor romance is refreshing compared to the half-hearted attempts at storytelling in the genre in the 21st Century.
Joey Silvera gives a sympathetic, controlled (for a change) performance in the central role: a Wall Street guy whose marriage to Sharon Mitchell has lost its oomph. She pleasures herself memorably in the bathtub on the phallic faucet while Joey gets his jollies humping a streetwalker (Marissa Constantine in a nice little role) he picks up in his Cadillac on the way to work.
His co-worker Paul Thomas tries to get Joey out of his depressive funk by taking him for drinks after work to a private sex club run by Kelly Nichols, terrific in a sort of Madam role. Joey is immediately smitten by stripper Sasha (played by Alexis X), and gets to have a hot private session with her.
Paul's lady Joanna Storm, looking great as a platinum blonde, worked as a stripper and she gets the idea of solving Sharon Mitchell's problem by getting her on stage as a stripper, figuring it will bring her out of her shell and turn on her hubby Joey as well. It works with Joanna and MItch dancing and having Sapphic sex together, setting up a satisfying happy ending for Mitch & Joey.
Besides top-notch acting by all the principals, there is a terrific scene, worthy of Scorsese, at work where a client beautifully played by one Cat Thomas, who is there to complain about Joey's mismanagement of his investments. Cat sympathizes with Joey's problematic home life and lectures him on "how to treat women", well-written to represent the usual misogynistic attitude but like the antiscocial pronouncements of a Scorsese wise guy utterly believable in character.
