To escape his arrest, Voltaire hides for a while with his friend, the Duke of Richelieu. In 1733, another person gives him asylum, Emilie, marquise du Châtelet. For Voltaire, this is an incredible opportunity. Everything is wonderful about her: the sensuality of the young woman of course, who hardly sees her husband, always at war, but also her outstanding intelligence. She is indeed a brilliant woman of letters, a philosopher, a mathematician and a physicist. They become lovers and are very happy, physically and intellectually, but three years later, an unexpected rival appears, willing to take Voltaire away from her, King Frederick II of Prussia. The Sovereign wants the philosopher of the Enlightenment at his court and will do everything for that.
