Over the weekend, the Chicago International Film Festival and Second City honored Mike Myers with a “Career Achievement Award,” in recognition of his work in beloved movies such as Wayne’s World, Austin Powers and Shrek. Thankfully, the event didn’t end with one of the organizers suddenly remembering that The Love Guru exists and attempting to wrestle the award out of Myers’ hands.
The ceremony also included a “lengthy conversation” between Myers and Kids in the Hall’s Dave Foley. The talk touched on a number of different subjects, including Myers’ fears that the studio wouldn’t release Wayne’s World, his fears that the studio wouldn’t release Austin Powers and how Michael Caine couldn’t get Beyoncé’s name right while filming Austin Powers in Goldmember. “He’d just go, ‘Hey, Be-yonts,’” Myers recalled.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe doesn’t like to leave loose ends. Well, the gods of the MCU surely seem to work in favor of Robert Downey Jr.’s return as Doctor Doom despite his appearance as Iron Man.
Robert Downey Jr. via Instagram
The theory dates back to 2021 when the world was greeted with Tom Hiddleston and Owen Wilson’s iconic duo in Loki. The mind-blowing theory can easily connect Robert Downey Jr.’s appearance as Doctor Doom and fans are simply in awe.
How Loki Season 1 Can Bring Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom
During Season 1, a scene was shown when Owen Wilson and Tom Hiddleston talk about some deaths that were out of time. The genius of this scene is that even though it felt like a story within the MCU (like any other), it was allegedly about Doctor Doom!

It’s that time of the month again when the world is introduced to theories regarding their favorite characters. Today’s topic is the iconic character of Wonder Woman and more specifically, Wonder Woman in the Dcau or the DC Animated Universe.
Being an integral part of the Justice League both in live-action as well as animated projects, the character of Wonder Woman is truly iconic and unique. However, a fan theory says that Diana Prince is not the first Wonder Woman of the Dcau!
Wonder Woman is a formidable DC hero Diana Prince Was Not The First Wonder Woman In The Dcau!
Well, people may remember how there were multiple carriers of Ghost Rider, and the spirit passed on down to the next. It seems that Diana Prince aka Wonder Woman in the Dcau and the comics might have undergone something like that.

‘Superman & Lois’ has garnered praise as one of CW’s top superhero shows. Despite CW’s restructuring and cancelation of many projects, ‘Superman & Lois’ secured its season 4 renewal shortly before the season 3 finale. Although loosely connected to the Arrowverse, the show has distinguished itself from other CW superhero series, which have faced criticism in recent years.
Season 4 has been confirmed as the show’s final season, with reduced episodes, a smaller main cast, and a smaller writing team due to budget constraints. Despite these changes, an iconic character, Jimmy Olsen, is set to appear, with Douglas Smith cast in the role according to TVLine.
In the show, Jimmy is depicted as an outgoing young adult who is known for being the life of the party at work. Despite working closely with Clark, he struggles to break through Clark’s reserved demeanor. Unaware of Clark’s secret identity as Superman, Jimmy is determined to befriend him.

‘Superman & Lois’ is often touted as being one of the best CW’s superhero-based shows. This is why even following CW restructuring after many projects were written off, ‘Superman & Lois’ managed to score its season 4 renewal just weeks prior to the season 3 finale. Although unofficially a part of Arrowverse, the show managed to distance itself from other CW’s similar projects that were regarded as straight-up bad in the last few years, especially looking back at the disappointing Flash finale.
A few months ago it was confirmed that Season 4 would be the show’s last, even though the viewership remained steady, it wasn’t nearly enough to justify a high CGI budget. Season 4 is set to return with fewer episodes, with much of its main cast missing and a much smaller writers team. But the show must go on and so one iconic character will reportedly appear in the show.

“Last year, I cancelled my Democratic Party registration and registered as an Independent voter,” Silverstone shared on Instagram. “Like many others, I am deeply disappointed with political leadership at every turn.”
The actress said she was tired of “the division, the lies, [and] the profiteering at the expense of the people and public health.”
She passionately reached out to those who had felt “disenfranchised by our government”, urging them to embrace the opportunity of giving the Biden challenger a chance.

Los Angeles, May 28 (Ians) Hollywood actress Alicia Silverstone recently remembered a day when she apparently was less than impressed with having to do a photoshoot.
The ‘Clueless’ star, 46, shared a hilarious picture to Instagram, taken from a 1990s shoot that she admittedly wasn’t really feeling, reports People magazine.
She captioned the picture: “I wish I could say I was giving baddie energy here (is that what the kids say today!?) but if I’m being honest, I think I just was over this photoshoot. Who knows.”
The image featured the actress, seemingly during her teenage years, as she squatted in front of a camera and posed in front of a brick wall.
As per People, the pose was of her looking a little “over” the whole thing, as she rocked a leather jacket, combat boots and a pair of blue jeans.

So far, in 2023, both Brendan Fraser and Alicia Silverstone have made appearances during two big television events. Silverstone reprised her role as Cher in an ad during the Super Bowl, and Brendan Fraser scored a Best Actor win at the Academy Awards. The duo had also won hearts over in 1999 in the romantic comedy, Blast from the Past. The movie featured a happy ending of course. However, if there were to be a sequel, Variety reports that Silverstone is down to be in it so she could work with Fraser again.

Another year, another eight months of dogged campaigning, and another Oscars season is over. Last night’s 95th annual Academy Awards ceremony at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood unfolded in a mostly predictable fashion, with “Everything Everywhere All at Once” dominating the affair and walking off with seven prizes. And that included Jamie Lee Curtis’s last-minute win over Angela Bassett in a moment now viral for just how palpably disappointed Bassett’s reaction was: she hardly smiled and did not clap or stand for her fellow nominee.
Yet there was plenty to celebrate, what with historic, record-shattering wins for Michelle Yeoh and Ke Huy Quan and a huge comeback moment for Brendan Fraser, triumphing for “The Whale” over Austin Butler who underwent an “ego death” to play The King. There was also much to celebrate with the fact that the ceremony avoided any kind of Slap-happy moment, eschewing controversy altogether.

Will Cate Blanchett fulfill the awards prophecy of winning an Academy Award every nine years? The two-time Academy Award winner of “The Aviator” (2004) and “Blue Jasmine” (2013) is a favorite to possibly win her third for Todd Field’s psychological drama “Tár,” in which she plays a lesbian conductor who begins to lose her grip on power and reality.
On this week’s episode of the Variety Awards Circuit Podcast, we sit down with Blanchett to discuss her work stunning transformation into Lydia Tár. In addition, she talks about working with co-star Nina Hoss and more. Listen below:
From Focus Features, “Tár” is set to a rhythmic beat of classical orchestration, marking writer and director Todd Field’s return to the director’s chair, 16 years after “Little Children” (2006) and 21 years after his debut “In the Bedroom” (2001).
The drama landed six Oscar noms — best picture, director, actress, original screenplay, cinematography and film editing.

It’s great to see the Brenaissance happen. Oscar nominee Brendan Fraser has been a joy to watch in movies since 1992’s Encino Man. Although the Oscars tend to overlook comedy, Fraser has done strong dramatic work long before The Whale. However, it’s great to see his performance in The Whale recognized.

Alicia Silverstone was on a roll in the mid-1990s, going from an Aerosmith music video catch to showing her range as both dramatic seductress in The Crush and fashion icon in Clueless. But as the decade progressed quite quickly, Silverstone ran into a bat-shaped issue that could have cost her her career. Now, Alicia Silverstone is reflecting on her time as Batgirl and how it marked a certain end to her allure during the decade.
Following the dismal reception and Razzie Award for Worst Supporting Actress (“beating” co-star Uma Thurman), Silverstone had some other poorly received movies in Excess Baggage and Blast from the Past, resulting in stepping away from lead roles for some time. “I wasn’t happy and what I did was really extract myself a bit from my acting career and went more into my activism,” she said. “I went to Africa. to help the elephants,...

Things are getting weird out there — and that's saying something after the past few years. Somehow, humanity has survived an ongoing global pandemic, international warfare, the effects of climate change, and more, but now we're looking at a potential threat from beyond. After three different unidentified flying objects (UFOs) were shot down across North America, with varied reports on each and claims that some of them had technology beyond our current means, it was hard for many people not to immediately assume we were being invaded (or at least scouted) by aliens. While President Biden and top Air Force officials have since debunked these ideas with reports that the flying objects were made right here on Earth, people are still stirred up and thinking about the possibility of alien invasion, possibly more than they have in decades.
In 1996, two huge movies came out about alien invasions. One was Roland Emmerich's "Independence Day,...

1992 was a breakout year for Brendan Fraser, who demonstrated his impressive range with star turns in the cult comedy hit "Encino Man" and the hard-hitting drama "School Ties." Fraser continued that trend of displaying serious dramatic abilities alongside his talent for playing what he once told GQ are "naif characters" and "fish out of water" types in '90s comedies like "George of the Jungle" and "Blast From the Past." Then there was the unfortunate "Dudley Do-Right" which signaled the end of that particular golden age.
With his resurgence in Darren Aronofsky's "The Whale," Fraser has reminded us all of his impressive dramatic talents. But for many, it was those outsider characters, stumbling wide-eyed through worlds they didn't fully understand, that defined the actor's appeal. And while "George Of The Jungle" was perhaps the biggest hit within that particular Fraser subgenre, affectionately termed his "himbo" movies, it all started with "Encino Man.

Brendan Fraser's ongoing Brenaissance (sorry) continues as the once-reclusive star re-emerges into the spotlight. Much of Hollywood's newly rediscovered love for Fraser stems from his Oscar-nominated turn in Darren Aronofsky's "The Whale," but he's also got the benefit of '90s nostalgia and just being a charming guy working in his favor. That effortless charm was put to good use back in the '90s when Fraser was handed starring role after starring role. From his breakthrough in 1992's "Encino Man," which established his ongoing penchant for playing "naif characters," to 1997's "George of The Jungle," and his biggest hit "The Mummy," Fraser had a gentle and endearing demeanor that proved popular with audiences of all ages. Sometimes.
Other times, it didn't work that way. "George of The Jungle" proved a hit for Disney in '97, bringing in 105 million at the box office on a 55 million budget. Two...

Cher Horowitz is back. 28 years after Amy Heckerling’s cult classic “Clueless” premiered, setting the bar for modernized Jane Austen adaptations and inspiring decades of Halloween costumes, Silverstone is set to reprise her role as the sweetly well-intentioned Valley girl — not for a sequel film or one of her TikToks, but rather for a Rakuten spot that will air during the Super Bowl.
The teaser for the commercial opens with a classroom of students chattering amongst themselves. A school bell rings, the iconic yellow plaid emerges into frame and Cher strides down the aisle, holding one shopping bag in each hand. She reaches the front of the classroom and sets them down, then whirls around to face the camera. The opening chords of “Alright” by Supergrass begin to play as she fixes a steady gaze.

Welcome to the Brenaissance -- or Brendanaissance, whatever you want to call it!
Brendan Fraser is enjoying a long-overdue comeback thanks to his gut-wrenching performance in The Whale.
Though he's most famous for goofy roles and being beautiful in 1990s rom-coms, Fraser has an exceptional range that often gets overlooked, particularly as he has matured and taken on a wider variety of roles in diverse projects.
Fraser has starred alongside some cinematic heavy hitters and taken all sorts of risks -- indie films, big-budget studio flicks, and television -- he's done it all.
Here are some examples of his best work, including some of his biggest hits and some underrated gems.
The Mummy (1999)
Fraser channels Errol Flynn and Indiana Jones as Rick O'Connell in The Mummy, his most commercially successful and enduring hit.

With the nominations for the 95th Academy Awards upon us, comeback kid Brendan Fraser is poised to win an Oscar for his heartbreaking, gut-wrenching performance in Darren Aronofsky's "The Whale" (read /Film's spot on review of the film here). If Fraser, famous for his swashbuckling days as Rick O'Connell in "The Mummy" franchise and off-the-wall comedies like "Airheads," wasn't ever considered a serious dramatic actor, he is now. Appearing as a guest on the "Saturday Night Live" deep dive podcast "Fly on the Wall" hosted by Dana Carvey and David Spade, Fraser opened up about his early days in the business when he was determined to be taken seriously as a performer.
Having just enjoyed some notoriety for his breakout role in "School Ties" (a film about a football star forced to confront anti-Semitism at a 1950s prep school), Fraser was trying to decide if playing a blockhead caveman...

Chris Ledesma, who served as the beloved music editor of The Simpsons on every one of its first 734 episodes, from the Fox animated series’ premiere in 1989 through a 34th-season installment in November, has died. He was 64.
Ledesma died Dec. 16 in Los Angeles, a spokesperson for the show told The Hollywood Reporter. No cause of death was revealed.
Ledesma had been hired to fill in as a music editor on Fox’s The Tracey Ullman Show, where The Simpsons began as a series of shorts playing in and out of commercials. He then started on the spinoff on Nov. 22, 1989.
“I was skeptical of turning the little 30- and 60-second featurettes on Tracey into a full-fledged, half-hour show,” he wrote on his blog in 2011. “All that went out the window as soon as I saw the first two shows.”

Fifteen years ago, Disney charmed viewers by sending up its own film catalog with Enchanted, and now its director is opening up about challenges in getting the movie made — and his surprise at not being asked to work on the new sequel, Disenchanted.
Enchanted’s origins date back to the late 1990s. The initial script, written by Bill Kelly (Blast From the Past), focused on Giselle, an animated woman who enjoys singing with animal friends (much like Snow White or Sleeping Beauty) but longs for a happily-ever-after. After Giselle and the prince of the magical kingdom fall in love, the evil queen banishes Giselle to a live-action New York City. Kelly tells The Hollywood Reporter of his initial inspiration: “How could you do a modern-day Sound of Music?”

Iconic fedora? Check. Dusty old jacket? Check. Trusty whip? Of course. The upcoming "Indiana Jones" movie even has a dangerous new locale for our beloved hero to traverse (New York City), so all that's missing is a formidable opponent with a meltable face. It's a good thing that director James Mangold called up Mads Mikkelsen, because nobody wears villainy quite as well as him.
In 2023, Harrison Ford will star as the titular archaeologist for the fifth time, bringing us through the end of his heroic journey after 42 years. Hopefully Indy gets a smoother final chapter than the last character James Mangold helmed a sunset arc for: "Logan," while an incredible movie, was a pretty rough time for the titular character, so maybe this could be Indy's chance to meddle with mythical artifacts in peace.
Just kidding! Of course, this will be no simpler than any of his past adventures. Empire...

While season one focused on wealth and privilege at a resort in Maui, season two of the Emmy-winning HBO series follows multiple intertwining love stories in Sicily. Returning castmembers Jennifer Coolidge and Jon Gries are joined by Theo James, Meghann Fahy, Aubrey Plaza, Will Sharpe, Adam di Marco and Haley Lu Richardson, among others.
James says he was initially drawn to the role of Cameron Bishop because of the way White circumvented expectations about couples in the script and how he found a way to make the audience empathize with even the most “sociopath”-esque characters, like his.

Brendan Fraser is very passionate about acting — just ask his doctors. The actor has sustained over a dozen injuries throughout his career. Getting your first opportunity in such a competitive field is rarely easy, and for Fraser, it was clear from the beginning that the actor was ready to do whatever it took to kickstart his Hollywood career.
Before his role in "The Mummy" franchise that made Brendan Fraser a certified action star, the actor was still crashing into things, willing to go to dizzying, dangerous heights to get a role in a movie. And he suffered the consequences from the very beginning. "The Mummy" may have given Fraser injuries to keep him in and out of the hospital for seven long years, but the performer also sustained a rib injury in his very first acting role, all the way back in 1991.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Season 1, Episode 5 of The Time Traveler’s Wife.] The Time Traveler’s Wife saw Clare (Rose Leslie) and Henry’s (Theo James) relationship take a turn in the latest installment, as she brought him home to meet her parents. But, what does Clare bringing this “new” younger version of Henry to the place she first met him feel like? Pretty scary it would seem because she can’t even reconcile the concept of him inhabiting a space once occupied by the Henry of her childhood. Throughout the series so far, she’s struggled to accept that this 28-year-old Henry is the same person from her past, the older and more grounded version of Henry. She’s said things like, “you’re not him,” and several variations of the thought aloud to Henry. (Credit: Macall B. Polay/HBO) After Henry disappears in time and returns for lunch with Clare’s parents bruised and battered...

The Time Traveler’s Wife Episode 4
Episode 4 of The Time Traveler’s Wife finally fills in key aspects of Henry and Clare’s backstory. This episode also manages to show that Henry and Clare have some self-awareness that their dynamic is problematic. Henry’s ability to have more than one version of himself in a place at a time makes traditional dating couple habits like meeting your girlfriends’ friends more complicated.
The episode begins with Older Clare and Older Henry from the documentary but this time they’re talking about their relationship developing in the wrong order and a lack of agency as a result. The scene then shifts to Henry walking up a set of stairs in an apartment building. We then...

The Time Traveler’s Wife Episode 3 Review
Episode 3 of The Time Traveler’s Wife finally addresses the questions viewers have about Clare’s teen years. Part of the answer explains Clare’s eventual career path and her relationship with Henry. The other part of the answer would appear unnecessarily traumatic if one didn’t realize this was in the original novel.
The episode begins with a return to Older Clare in the documentary. She reflects on her childhood being all about waiting for visits from Henry. She flips the pages on a paper calendar hoping the time between his visits moves faster. We also find out how Clare gets the notebook to write down all of the dates Henry will appear in the future. Clare in the documentary reveals that at least three different versions of Older Henry visit her during her childhood and pre-teen years.

The Time Traveler’s Wife Episode 2 Review
The Time Traveler’s Wife episode two explains a key part of how Henry’s powers work as well as the story’s philosophy towards couples getting together. While the episode explains why Henry and Clare will get together, it also takes some strange turns regarding Henry’s psychology.
The episode starts with another clip from the documentary about Henry’s powers. Clare explains Henry can travel to the past or present within his own life span. Henry scares children and tourists by appearing naked in the middle of the day. He cannot control when he time travels and where he lands. As an example of the danger, we see a clip of Henry trapped in a cage and climbing a skyscraper.
Henry then reveals that there are important events in his life he feels a gravitational pull towards revisiting.

Game of Thrones’ Rose Leslie on playing the Time Traveler’s Wife and life with Kit Harington
Rose Leslie and her baby son have Covid. “Day three. It is fairly grim,” she says. You’d never guess: she’s perky and bright in a stripy T-shirt, endlessly patient and accommodating when our Zoom collapses, greeting my every trite observation with enthusiasm. It’s hard not to feel she has “trouper” stamped through her like a stick of seaside rock.
I wonder if that preternaturally cheery thoughtfulness is part of the reason Leslie accumulates plum roles in prestige TV franchises like Brownie badges. After winning a Scottish Bafta straight out of drama school for her portrayal of a naive Hebridean student in the dark comedy, New Town, she was cast in Downton Abbey as ambitious housemaid-with-notions, Gwen Dawson. In Game of Thrones – of which, inevitably, more later – she’s insolent, mocking,...
